Even more credibility could be created by also giving education and
occupation and a statement about any sponsor or other ties.

DEAR DAVIDY,

I AM A NIGERIAN BUSINESS MAN AND HAVE THOUGHT ON THIS.
YOUR CREDIBILITY COULD BE GREATLY ENHANCED IF YOU POSTED
YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IN THIS FORUM. ALSO I WOULD LIKE
TO INFORM YOU OF A UNIQUE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU.

YOUR GOVERNMENT HAS MISTAKENLY DEPOSITED 700 BILLION INTO
MY ACCOUNT. HOWEVER I CANNOT ACCESS THIS MINEY SINCE I AM
NOT A US CITIZEN. SO I PROPOSE THAT YOU POST YOUR ACCOUNT
INFORMATION THEN I CAN RELEASE YOU ME MONEY AND YOU CAN
FORWARD 10% PER TRANSACTION. THIS IS GREAT OPPORTUNITY!

THANK YOU,
BIG CANNON (THIS IS MY NIGERIAN NAME)

I'm joking, but seriously a lot of posters don't want to post their
personal information to forums. And who I am matters to who it
matters to. But what I post stands on it's own.

When I'm not joking, I post on a lot of technical things and research
with strong legs under it. As the saying goes, if I have seen farther
it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.
To see eye to
eye with me you don't need to know who I am, you need a giant.

and alarmist and shut me down after few posts
Yeah, compared to other forums peakoil.com rocks!
A lot of forums there's a lot of BS when reality is too harsh to
accept. But with peakoil.com, if there is something to discuss,
we discuss it. I'm very proud of what people here have accomplished.

I am a former National Park Ranger, environmentalist, ecologist, professional photographer and writer. I also work as a construction superintendent (my post -peak oil occupation). I came to peakoil.com as the result of investigation for a book I was writing. I have been involved in environmental issues related to ecological degradation and global climate change for over 30 years. I am 53 and live in Sedona, AZ just south of Flagstaff. I immedately began to post several threads that have become mainstays on the forum and was asked to be a moderator.

What's the deal with Monte's book? I can't find "Mad Men at the Helm" anywhere. How was it ever sold??

As a member of the class of '04, I must say I agree with that remark 100%. This website has performed miracles educating people about peak oil and all it represents. A few years ago I would have said, 'will represent', but now that it's begun it's time to use the present tense.
