$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'O')K, I quit.

Take your money from the bank, build a minefield, put in a silo to hold 30 years of wheat in your spare bedroom.

Do it tomorrow!

Oh yea, make sure you don't change anything else about your life.

Money is out of the bank
Don't need a minefield
Only have about 18 months of stocked food and goods
Been doing it since Feb 07
I haven't changed a thing about my life still living good

Don't have to do it tomorrow - its been done for years.
Might put in more mines, though.

Relax folks...

Your money won't be worth anything soon anyway.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Yeah inflation will hit, but initially it will be a deflationary scenario, there is just so much "product" in the pipeline right now and there will be very few people who can afford it.

Having said that, certain parts will be inflationary sooner than later, my main eye on this one is on food and other "growing" things that require lots of input (be it capital or energy).

Ahhhh don't take that crack too seriously. That's just Pops. He's a great guy, but he gets a bit cantankerous at times. Venting. It'll pass. He's our favorite cantankerous old coot.

He's part of our amazing diversity. No 'cult of sameness' around here, that's for sure! :)

First of all I don't see any deflation at the moment, everything , except petrol gets dearer.

Snowwalker, yu might be right with this:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'h')ere is just so much "product" in the pipeline right now and there will be very few people who can afford it.

But the product in the pipeline will definitively never be the product you need. You might be able to buy an iphone for cheap but not those woolen socks, the flour or another blanket.

For those who haven't got real assets at the bank, we simply can spend a part of our savings. We stocked up use full things this week end, fearing the inflation. I will continue during this week, buying chicken food and basic foodstuff.

Aaron is correct. First, very soon, there will be a cash supply shortage- deflation. Then later there will be hyper-inflation once the US government tries to print it's way out of the depression. It's probably best to take most cash out of the bank and put it into hard assets- gold/silver, food/preps, guns/ammo, farmland, etc. The US dollar will become toilet paper soon enough.

Stalag, that's a peninsula in Papua-New Guniea? No wonder.

US government did not print a single dollar since 1913.
