This is a loss. Rocc, I'll miss your unique perspective. I hope you thrive wherever you're going.

I guess the day is coming when we will all be gone from here. Nothing lasts.

At least we'll be able to say we were right, when most of the rest of the world was wrong.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', 'I') really think this is going to end up being the defining moment of our lives. When we're 70 people will ask us about the crash of '08.

Quite the optimist thinking that many of us will get to 70 yo to tell about it. Where is everyone going?? I plan to be hooked up to the web until the last electron stops flowing. Do I have much time?

Yes it will. Over at the ticker forum it is interesting, they all make money by shorting the market, but now that we are at the rim of the abyss they are all pretty much silent about investing. What is coming is so bad it doesn't matter if your long or short.

I have a lot of errands to do tomorrow. Guns Groceries and cash.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Heineken', 'A')t least we'll be able to say we were right, when most of the rest of the world was wrong.

Small consolation tho' it may be. But yea... sometimes the satisfaction of being able to say 'I told you so' is worth it, no matter what the price.

Good luck Richard, wherever your footsteps lead you...

You have 3.5 years, then the web disintigrates. Roccman will be back, at least to say I told you so and we will say, you were right. it gets awful boring in a bunker for 3.5 years.

we wont have dollars though and maybe no peak oil forum (I think this aaron guy won't be able to afford this black hole)

As for enlightening the world about peak oil forgetaboutit. wont happen. anyway, we are too cool to ignore, say hi once in a while roc, tell us how it is going independant.

We are quite succesful we have been independant from stores for 2 years now it is not hard to do. Just seems a little scary when there wont be any stores to fall back on...

But there is going to be crying wailing and knashing of teeth when the little spoiled brats can't get pepsis from the pop machines in the school halls anymore. definitely our lifves have changed this week.

Thats my take too Eli. Tonight there is a very palpable fear over there. The Ticker Forum folks are not a bunch of tinfoil crazies. I may even go out tonight and find an all night Wal mart or something to pick up a few things.

Its sad that there are so many people who have no clue at the moment what is coming. Its possible that commerce as we know it may cease operating on a rather large scale within hours or days.

This is a given. In Russia they had just basics available and there will always be a underground black market for enough money you can get anything you want.

This crash, remember, is planned, it is managed it wont go out of control, they are have a meeting in DC to make sure it is managed with pillows.
it isnt going to be turmnoil, just, everyone has no jobs and if you want handouts you will have to have the chip. little by little everyone will take it. in three years it will be mandatory.
I would just get some dried goods so you dont get too hungry when the trucks stop for a few weeks.

If the arabs cut oil production to increase oil cost, they are going to shoot their foot off, they better leave well enough alone.

Hey...it's not all bad news out there, Moody's downgraded its rating on Goldman Sachs.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')oody's put Morgan Stanley's A1 long-term credit rating on review for a possible downgrade, according to an e-mailed statement. The ratings assessor also lowered its outlook for Goldman Sachs Group Inc.'s Aa3 long-term rating to negative.

If Goldman Sachs goes under, I will be cracking a cold one and toasting the demise of this most malignant tumor of the festering financial cancer.

This all really does suck, and it will affect the daily lives of each and everyone of us. It's worth recalling though that this is the long predicted and inevitable outcome of the greatest pyramid scheme in the history of earth. I'm sorry but I have nothing but disdain for these wall street ivy league pricks. These are the type of fing aholes we fought a war against some odd years ago to start our own country. Their world is cracking, crumbling and vanishing before their eyes. Wall Street had to go, it was bound to go and now it's going. f'ck em! They can eat stock certificates. Yes, I'm a bit anxious about the future like everyone else, but this is good news!

+1.

I'm thinking the only hope 99.9% of us have is that the "Elites" lose control in the very collapse they created. It would not only be poetic justice, it would give us a fighting chance to pick up the pieces on the other side of collapse.

Regardless, they should not be allowed to "win".

Rocc,

WTF? It makes no sense to drop internet connection until food and gas shortages start, even if it's only another week or two.

Either way best wishes.

You know ROCC the fat lady hasn't even got on the stage yet. True things do look rather shi**y, but we haven't even got to the fun part yet. So take a deep breath and take down a nice shot of your favorite liqour and relax. But if you decide it's time to go, then I wish you the best!
