Well I did a bank run today! It was my first, but I think it went well. In fact there was no queue at all. I left enough money to pay for my bills but took the rest out. I figured I would get in extra early.

I thought I would create this thread for people to post their bank runs. Some people in the UK and Iceland have already ran on their bank. Lets look at the pros and cons of running your bank early:

Pros
- You won't be fighting the zombie hordes later.
- You won't loose money, only a tiny bit of interest.
- Your money will be instantly avaliable to you.
- You could trigger off the collapse early.

Cons
- You will loose some interest.
- Your money could be stolen.

I have read on other threads that people don't want to take their money out of the bank because a mouse might eat it. This can be overcome using a new technology called glass jars. Remember kids, history has shown people still accept fiat currency after the banks have collapsed, at least for a while.

I pulled 75% and have been spending it on new house/old house preps for purchase/sale. I should grab some more and put it in the safe one day soon I suppose. Our banks up here are pretty bloody stable looking at the moment however. It's the economy that is in dire shape

Just a thought: I live in California. California is on the edge of collapse already. If public employees such as DMV and cops and sheriffs don't get paid, who is going to evict folks that can't pay their bills such as teachers? Who is coming after the landlords that don't get paid? Who is coming after the creditors of the landlords who can't collect? Who is coming after the creditors of the creditors when the cops don't get paid?

Lol, I am not to worried about my bank account, I am more worried that my employer's cheques will bounce.

When employees start demanding cold hard cash in pay packets....start worrying.

Speaking of which, does anyone remember getting paid in cash?

I used to get the pay packet from certain jobs in my teens and 20's.

I thought it was the best thing ever. No teller line ups on Friday afternoon, just straight to the local tavern.

Took out much of our money, used it to pay for half of a house, son paid the other have (all cash). It was a foreclosure, took about 3 weeks from being listed for sale until the closing. Now he is a home owner. When we withdrew money from the credit union, the teller asked what we were doing with it, and then asked if we needed to borrow more. No credit crunch there.

The trick is to borrow as much as they'll let you, get it in cash, and run as far and fast as you can.
