Right. Which is in contrast to living, something that involves being a self-directed master of one's life, rather than a victim to circumstances. And that includes the ability to choose the manner and timing of one's passing. I'll take the latter, thank you.
Funny how most who look down on conscious suicide frequently have no problem with 'suicide for a cause' (i.e. 'die trying'), which, no matter how you spin it, still amounts to suicide.
'Survival' as an imperative is grounded firmly in fear; the fear of Oblivion, the fear of 'Final Judgement', the fear of the Unknown, the fear of pain. No matter how fervently we wish otherwise, death is an inescapable part of life, and rejecting it, rejecting the option to willfully embrace it if one so chooses, is ultimately a rejection of life as well. I cherish my life all the more because I reserve the right to end it in whatever manner I wish.
