Strange how his detractors always mention MM's weight when insulting him. Never hear any credible arguments against the ideology or veracity of the subject matter he presents. Always straight to the 7th grade insults. He's fat so he must be lying or at least exaggerrating. " hey FATBOY, I got yer' healthcare reform right here!"

Turns out he's been totally vindicated in his condemnation of the supposed reasons for the Iraqi invasion, watch Fahrenheit 911 and tell me where he's wrong.

Was he just a stupid fat tub-o'-lard for shining a light on the urban blight of Michigan due to poor decisions by the executives at the big three?

How about bowling for Columbine? Silly fat f*ck for doing a story about a couple sick kids who killed a lot of other kids, God forbid he examined the role of guns in this uber-violent society we live in, and no he didn't reach the conclusion guns were bad and should be banned. He basically said "why are we so prone to violence in the U.S."

SICKO? He was dead on in this movie and has basically destroyed anyone who has had the balls to debate the movie's merits with him. I've heard so many people tell blatant lies about the facts of the movie it makes me sick. Usually right-wingers on FOX that will never have the balls to debate him face to face. How's that unregulated, free-market stuff working for you Repubs now?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')ow's that unregulated, free-market stuff working for you Repubs now?
Its working GREATTT for them! They are going to be handed 700 billion with almost no oversite to further enrich themselves and sell off the worst of their ponzi schemes and continue the party now that the mythical money they made has been shown to be, well, mythical!

The problem people have with understanding todays mainstream "conservatives" is that it is not a belief system, its an excuse made to get rid of anything that would interfere with them emptying consumers' wallets, bank vaults, and government coffers by any means possible without going to the slammer like normal con man felons do.

(Apologies to any REAL conservatives out there)

The banks may eventually get a couple hundred billion with extensive oversight, but don't forget the 777 pt. drop today wiped out about 1.6 trillion in wealth, mostly republican wealth.

You aren't looking hard enough. There are plenty of websites that tear his material apart. For the record, I sway maybe 75% towards MM, but that last 25% of spin that he puts in his material is what makes the difference between a 60 minutes style expose and a political manifesto.

I think that in general he has good ideas but he does not exactly make good documentaries.
My bone to pick with him is that he is not thorough (in the interests of making a riveting film, no doubt). He'll show rabbits getting beaten to death but won't actually go into why the US is why more violent than other countries that have guns.

I haven't seen Sicko yet but that is an easy, easy target. There's just a huge stinking mound of evidence that our system sucks that it would be hard to make a movie with anything good to say about it.

Argentina is a huge country with fertile land, vast natural reserves and a small population with no Negros. Good luck matching that in US.

I believe the "Argentina" comment relates to the hyperinflation episode that the country experienced in 2002.

At the time, Argentina was running chronic fiscal deficits (eg. continually increasing their debt) and eventally defaulted on their international debts. There was a liquidity crisis at the banks, rapidly escalating unemployment, and eventually bank withdrawal restrictions. This caused a massive devaluation of their currency and quickly wiped out about 2/3 of the value of middle-class savings.

Sound familiar? This happened only a few years ago in the country with the highest Human Development Index and second-highest GDP of any Latin American country. Think it couldn't happen in the US? The warning signs are all the same. Only thing that is different is the magnitude...it'll be about 10 times worse.

I think that the 'popcorn and barcalounger' comment is perhaps referring to the Great Depression, where popcorn that was sold by street vendors was the only luxury the average middle-class person could afford. 'Popcorn and Barcalounger', I believe is a way of implying that folks will not have a lot of disposable income in their near future, and will be spending a lot of time at home, 'eating popcorn in their barcalounger'.

What i meant is that Argentina ddoesnt have a significant proportion of populace living off federal, state and city budgets, they didnt have to spend hundreds of billions on welfare, medicaid, public housing, prisons, ets, to keep everyone warm and fuzzy with a chicken wing between the teeth.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('some_math_guy', 'I') think that the 'popcorn and barcalounger' comment is perhaps referring to the Great Depression,

i think the popcorn and barcalounger comment clearly refers to the greatest wide receiver of all-time, Terrell Owens. prior to the show, host #1 asked if host #2 would like to come over and watch the Cowboys game with him. host #2 indicated he was supposed to fly down to argentina with his girlfriend for the weekend, but really would have enjoyed the game. so host #1 continues to try to talk him into it after the show:
'popcorn and barcalounger...?'
'argentina, baby. argentina'
