Do pop tarts have less filling in them?

Unread postby Roccland » Fri 26 Sep 2008, 10:04:20

Really - tried two in the last month and they taste dry...

Then I asked my son this morning...he said they have less filling.

Ok - for all you moms out there...hold back the "what's a pop tart?" and "I can't believe you buy them for your kids"...

Really...I am in a snarky mood today and probably owe an apology or two to some posters (which won't happen)...

Just say'n.

I haven't eaten a Pop Tart in probably 20 years. I can't believe they have less filling today than they did then, unless they've figured out how to fill them with anti-filling now.

Pop Tarts. Ew. Cardboard wrapped around a thin layer of paint, slathered in hard sugar.

Everything is less of, and smaller than, etc. If they could figure out how to put less than a pound of something into a pound, they would. Oh wait, the Chinese know how to do that already.

Where did you buy them ? I don't know about pop-tarts, but other brand name products that I have tasted at people's houses didn't seem quite right and it turned out they were from some discount store like Walmart, or Cosco. Don't know if they have a different line for those outlets or what.

Stores stocking up on Pop - Tarts

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')torm threat brings demand at grocers
Sunday, August 31, 2008
By Easha Anand

The list of 80 items that Rouses Markets stocks its stores with every time a hurricane threatens includes a surprising product: Pop-Tarts.

"It's all ready," said President Donald Rouse. "We just have to push a button."

And so, in addition to offloading gallons of bottled water and worrying about whether they'll be able to get products into New Orleans if contraflow is put in place, Rouses is making sure its stores are well-stocked with the toaster pastries.

That's because demand for the pastries surges when hurricanes approach, according to some retailers. Not all stores see the uptick. Neither Langenstein's nor Breaux Mart have noticed the pre-storm spike.

But Linda Parent, cashier clerk at the Circle K in Gretna, said the facility probably would sell out of Pop-Tarts before Gustav makes landfall, though water and ice would go first.

Dave Ducote, New Orleans' district manager for Winn-Dixie Inc., said that though he hadn't noticed a rise in Pop-Tart sales specifically, they belonged to the genre of snack food -- chips, cookies and the like -- that people tend to buy as "comfort food."

What do they put in those things anyway? Pop - tart Flambe
