Socialism the only answer

if you don't have anything worthwile to post, something that contributes to the debate, an original thought even, the why do you?.....post.


The debate is between the perils of capitalism vs. the benefits of socialism. Right? The chevez article says socialism is the answer. The class warfare debate and the evils of the rich has been used in all marxist/socialist talking points. The lingo is straight from Lenin.

The relevance is that it has been tried and has failed. You substitute one set of elite with another. If you believe in socialism, it is your right. But in my humble opinion, it is not a solution to the average Joes lot in life.

apparently so has capitalism. see: current situation. :P

why is it 'class warfare' when the little guy finally starts to see that he has been and is being exploited and used and gets pissed about it, but never is it 'class warfare' when the guys on top do that exploitation and rape of the little guys underneath?


It's class warfare irregardless of which perspective you look at it from. The Have's vs. Have nots............a rivalry as old as time. The little guy always gets the short end of the stick. It's just the way it is. ....It's the way it will always be.

I prefer a system that does not lock you into a class......but allows for hard work, intellect and maybe luck to propel you to another station.



Our form of capitalism is one of the least likely to allow class movement. America being a place where you will be rewarded with hard work is a fairy tale. We've been fed the line about all of us benefiting from rich getting richer but it has yet to materialize.

With a bit more socialism we would, at least have a larger middle class.


Oh, and irregardless is not a word (double negative).

usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance.

But perhaps regardless is more formal.

Seahorse,

Keep it up with the great posts! If only there was someway of turning what you and probably several million other Americans sense or feel into action - that would be amazing. Unfortunately, you have probably only managed to add a few extras red stars next to your name in the HS database. I can't wait to hear what happens on your next re-entry to the US. Maybe you should consider running for office in your local jurisdiction...

I do not disagree. :lol: People are waiting for cubic zirconium jewelry to become classy, too. But then, the hallmark of English is what a mess it is.

JD's postings are becoming more socialist in nature, he really has it in for "greedy speculators," I think because he realizes how much more stratified society will become if we fail to realize his dream of renewable utopia, of Green powered energy slavery. It's interesting to watch this mindset develop, and I agree with this conclusion frankly. Sans cheap gasoline and electricity we are supremely unprepared to meet almost any kind of challenge, far more so than the Cubans were, who at least were used to living a harsh existence. Orlov put it best: "If Americans had to live the way Russians did they'd blow out their kneecaps." This is a recipe for both heretofore undreamed of degrees of social stratification, and all sorts of mischief in the name of socialization, at first along the lines of pitchforks and torches of course. After that, who knows - pogroms? 1000 Year Plans? 5 Year Plans? Great Leaps Forward? Crusades against kulaks? Pol Pot esque annihilation of intellectual/liberal/environmental elitists, up to and including those who wear glasses?

Not saying that these are productive goals (!), or characteristic of socialist thought. Or forgetting to mention that at the heart of almost all such movements has been your bread and butter dictator. Your Buffetts and Rainwaters will quietly leave for calmer shores long before it gets that ugly, too, and no doubt continue to enjoy their limos and jets for some time.
