I have always said that I think bush will try to find some way to keep himself in office past 2008. I think he has decided on his reason. It's the economy, stupid.

also, McSame just suspended his campaign, and is asking Obama to join him...All politics for sure...

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate John McCain announced Wednesday that he is suspending his campaign to return to Washington and focus on the "historic" crisis facing the U.S. economy.
McCain said it was time for both parties to come together to solve economic crisis. The Arizona senator called on his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, to do the same.

This is an...interesting...development. First with the stationing of active duty troops at home, now this.

October is certainly shaping up to be an exciting month.

Bush is supposed to speak about the economy tonight. Everytime I hear that he's going to speak, I expect him to announce he's taking over per the executive orders he has signed.

Mcsame --

Housing prices hardly moved in the 80's so what is the big historic deal?

Georgie pumped a ton of liquidity in the market in 2001/2002. Make him pay it back, he's the one that goofed, remember Greenspan didn't want anything to do with it.
Wonder why?

I only caught the last minute of the speech. What did Bush say?

Could be but I don't think. McCain is very quick in building current events into his campaign as he did with the hurricane. This could be only a tactical decision for showing the voters he's the one who works.

Poor Bush, he never wanted to work and now you think they want to make him to stay in office even more! It's not fair, this guy might have been a good tiler and they pushed him into presidency.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Roccland', 'i') hope i am wrong.

Even if you believe in conspiracy theories, on a practical basis, there is no way "they" would want to put up with the public revolt over suspending elections. Elections went forward even under the Civil War. There is no constitutional basis for suspending elections. People will not stand for it.

If Bush has any say in it (and maybe he doesn't) he is out of the White House yesterday. Did you see him tonight? He wanted to say "mommy come pick me up, i don't like this any more". [smilie=binkybaby.gif]

Hmmm... people stood for 2979 people getting slaughtered on 911
- people stood for 4171 US soliders getting slaughtered in two bullshit wars
- people stood for F&F being bailed out to the tune of 5T
- people will stand for another 700 billion being thrown into a furnace... What were you saying again about how active us amerikans are?

Ok, I'm in. Here is how I see it playing out along these lines... (although I have to admit to many other plausible (or not) outcomes)...

Shortly before the elections, some 'deranged' former owner of a 4 bedroom/ 5 bath room McMansion (with appropriately equipped media room and 400 sq. ft kitchen) from Pennsylvania (west of Philly) will take Bush out and the 'PuppetMaster' will assume control. Question? Anyone seen 'hide or hare'of the PuppetMaster recently?

Elections will be postponed in order to insure some semblance of continuity (of what? the Big ass-rape?). Then Cheney and his boyz will continue to salvage/scavenge what remains.

Of course, all of this requires that those still making more than $100k, toe the line and not tilt toward those 'left-behind'. In other words, if you still want your shot at being able to order pizza every Friday night and have brunch at Olive-Garden on Sunday (does that place still exist?) you will just keep your mouth shut and go to work (if you still have a job).

I imagine that there will be some savage riots in the near future but that they will mostly be confined to poor people burning down their own neighborhoods. The most outrage we will witness in the suburbs will be some new bumper stickers on the rear of Dodge Durangos parked (permanently) in the driveway.

I'm also not discounting the scenario (although I'm not advocating it, please!) that a fair number of folks with access to firearms will 'elect' to off themselves and their families rather than face life without cable TV and 24 hour ESPN.

But seriously...

Will there be a depression due to RE greed and deregulation?

Yea, I saw that on the wall 5 years ago.

Will PO be the follow on head shot?

Probably, I learned about that even earlier.

Will US elections be postponed this or any ohter year?

Never happen.

If 'they' implemented martial law first, the people would be virtually powerless.

I only bring this up because of the further developments in today's news.
