My wife is pregnant, almost 6 months now and everything is fine on the echography. I also bought a bike with which I go everywhere in the city at the speed of a torpedo. I also discovered how great are the Starwars comics, particulary the "Knight of the old republic" serial.
Last thing, my wife and I ate a good pizza yesterday in a restaurant.

The hubby is gainfully employed and got a raise this year.

My second cat, originally described by her foster mother as "partially feral" is now demanding to be pet before she eats.

It is a beautiful morning and the weather is cool and not humid!

This is a great time of year. Cool nights, low humidity, warm sunny days and we just about have the lakes to ourselves now that the summer tourists, and vacation homeowners have gone home.

Great year for the garden. Canned 57 quarts of tomatoes and 14 pints of grape juice concentrate.

And I finally severed my relationship with my narcissistic father.

It's making me a tad emotional reading this thread with all that's going on in the world.

Good news: business is picking up and the weather has improved dramatically, it's glorious outside :)

I bought stocks in a small nat. gas company at the close yesterday and they are up %15 already this a.m.

They'll probably crash back down tomorrow.
Ooops, sorry this is the happy thread.

My 7 week old son slept well last night and went back to sleep quickly after feeding when he did wake up. He looks great and is growing well.

My husband's job is very stable & he gets home at 2:45pm on Fridays. (starts at 6:30am)

Cute spotted baby deer are frequent guests in our backyard.

Today is finally clear and sunny!

good thread!

My husband is also gainfully employed at a great job and recently got a good raise this summer. I have a home (four years to go to payoff) and I have a very cute husband and I have a small savings account and I have good health and I have good children! Much to be grateful for.

And yesterday was one of the loveliest days in Southern Virginia.

I lost some weight: my pants fit better again (still plenty of reserves).

I'm healthy as ever. Business is going well. My money is safe.

Shanny, your chickens are huge! They were just peepers when I went over last!

Retiredguy, I had to do the same with my mom. I totally understand.

It's beautiful and sunny today. My daughter got me a t-shirt (!) that I absolutely love, just out of the blue. Later on, I'm going to pick up a hand-crank meat grinder for only 5 bucks. :-D

I'm working right now. Not getting paid much but working with good people at a place I like & getting quality free food & a free place to live. I don't have home Internet (health food store a mile away has Internet) & am enjoying the time away.

Thanks for starting this thread smallpoxgirl. :)

My darling wife (much younger than me) just got a great promotion and is now making almost three times what I do.

Not only that, but the new position is super-secure, and should stay that way in spite of all the economic tsunamis that we're going to be swamped with in the near future.

I may be retiring soon.

Great thread SPG!

I just got my chicken pen finished up finally, only took me all summer to figure it out :-D. Now that its done I have 7 chickens and our 3 rabbits. Its going to be interesting figuring things out with the new critters this winter, freezing water is the only problem I foresee. We should be getting our first egg any day now :-D

I just scored a great deal on super high efficient woodstove to heat my house. I got about a half a cord of wood cut this last weekend. Still need to install the stove next weekend.

I have been buying a lot of used bicycles online for really cheap, I scored a bulk buy with 3 really good frames and parts and pieces for just about every part on a bike. Last weekend I painted and put together a sweet bike for me to use commuting to work :)

Weather has been great, vegetables and fruit in the garden have been doing awesome! We have 5 artichoke flowers about ready to eat, potatoes, strawberries, carrots, spinach, green beans, tomatoes up the wazoo, radish coming in soon... This summer has been very productive around the house :)

Walked my 9-year old girl to school today. She is such a happy kid. We try to teach her all the right things. She still wonders why we walk to school and most everyone else is driven to school. We were a little late, but she can outrun me already. ...Nuff said!

Older daughter is off to France to tutor English. She could of joined the rat-race, but probably noticed I didn't care. I don't really know what skills will be necessary, but getting along with others and always contributing to the common effort is always a good skill to have. I am happy for her.

The house 100 yards away from us, (we're in dense second growth forest and scrub) burnt to the ground between 12:30 AM and 2:30, last night. It was a freaking conflagration, the house was totally engulfed in flames and it's been dry as a bone here for at least 2 weeks. The house was built to lock up and empty.

The good news. Had it been a windy day, I may not even be alive to post, as it looks like it could have been arson, and it pretty much went off like a roman candle, instant conflagration. There wasn't a whisper of wind so it just burnt into a neat little pile of charred wreckage, as the volunteer fire department arrived before any trees caught fire. I found it kind of exciting actually, although some of my neighbours were all shaking and trembly even after it was brought under control.

So yeah....LIFE is good!

Damn. Good to hear you weren't touched by the fire.
That could have been real bad.
I guess the absentee owners are in for a big surprise.
Unless they were the arsonists?

No fancy job with mega raises for me, not that I want one...hehe.

Good news for me is that it's finally started to cool down, and the sun is actually slanting into the house now. That means only one thing: W-I-N-T-E-R is on its way. Yayyyy!!! I so can't wait. I'll be able to do things outside again. I'll be able to run and play and enjoy nature under a bright blue sky in the COOL air...oh, I so can't wait! And I slept with the windows open last night for the first time in over 100 days. Woot! :-D

Brighter days are coming, indeed. :-D
