My plan? Well, I think we have about 10 years, so here goes...

1. Bring the troops home. Keep a military for defense on our soil (and in case Canada needs a hand). When the troops are not actively defending our sovereignty or our borders they can help rebuild our country's infrastructure.

2. Transfer what was military spending to education. Increase PUBLIC school teacher salaries. Provide 4 years of college at PUBLIC universities to any student who can keep a 3.00 GPA or higher. We need to bring along a generation who can lead us out of this mess. Private schools are fine, if you can afford it and want to go there, go for it.

3. 100% Tariffs on imports of almost anything except food and oil.

4. Exports curtailed except for food. Manufacturing in US turns from making junk to what? Solar cells maybe? Remember the effort as the US entered WWII. We can do it again. As for food exports, how about we charge one bbl of oil for one bushel of wheat?

5. Eliminate pork barrel politics as much as possible. We need the money for real projects now. Use the savings to give any citizen who installs any form of individual alternative energy system a Federal tax credit for 75% of the system cost. States are encouraged to kick in the difference. Similar plan to Carter's plan that Reagan killed.

6. Make net-metering mandatory for all utilities.

7. The Federal Gasoline Tax goes to $7.50/gallon across the board. The money is used to repair and improve our infrastructure for future needs such as adding high-speed rail, more freight rail, faster communication modes, more natural gas pipelines, etc.

That would be fun if I were in charge :
1) Media control, the first thing to do if in order to avoid riots, meaning trying to preserve civilization as we know it. Internet would disappeared as it's too dangerous in my opinion, only radio and television would stay "online".
2) Army and police fusion. Strong links between army and schools.
3) Forbid any personnal car.
4) food/water/energy use limits, preserving the grid would be a priority. A/C and electric heating forbidden.
5) birth control.
6) concentrations camps for people threatening the country, people who would critisize army, police, state or politics in charge would be considered as terrorists.
7) Slowly explain the awfull situation on medias, awfull meaning peak oil and not the first 6 points I presented here ;-p.
Huge and perpetual meeting with as many as possible countries on the planet to organize a new kind of economy, at least to avoid world war 3 which would lead us quickly to Olduvai.

I know my program looks frightening, but I definitally prefer 1984 than Mad Max. It's too late to expect capitalism or technology to create some starwars fantasy out of our situation.

1. Stop raping the world and the world's people of their natural resources and keeping them in slavery.

2. Cancel all debts issued by the IMF and World Bank.

3. Close all U.S. foreign bases saving 1 trillion dollars per year.

4. Invest in clean fusion energy. That will provide enough energy for the world for 10 billion years.
