Glad you and your son had a good time. But nothing even comes close to the F-22 Raptor!! Nothing.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('GASMON', 'J')ust been with the son to Southport air show, a 2 day event held every year in the seaside resort, just north of Liverpool.

FANTASTIC - Great day out, great displays, great weather, high cloud / sunny spells - great for photography. After all the bleating I hear & read on the news, and the doomers on here - what a great day 150,000 people have just had.

Started with the red arrows, bang on time at noon, many displays culminating with a "raid" on the beach, Chinnook & Apache helicopters, AWACS overhead, 4 typhoon eurofighters splitting the eardrums, explosions, army streaming out of the chinooks guns blazing. - Those typhoons are BLOODY awesome - god help the taliban.

Show ended with the mighty Vulcan - 4 engined delta wing jet bomber from the 50's. This thing has just had a multi million pound restoration. What a beast.

Finished at 4-30, then back home on the train. What a grand performance for £7 ($12) each. Must have cost a fortune to organise, and consumed a small oilfield.

No recession here, just yet.

That was the first flight of the old lady after restoration, wasn't it? Would have loved to see and hear it. And a Victor too, if there was one in flight conditions. Makes me feel a bit guilty, sure, but I love these aircraft.
