I saw the slogan 'country first' written all over banners and the signs the conventioneers were waving around mindlessly. I am wondering what that banner is suggesting.

I think it goes to the McCain campaign propagandist's tactic of painting the other guy as un-patriotic. The republicans have become nationalists of the worst kind.

Chill out. 'country first' has been around since Sparta. It's not a new thing, although it's been corrupted in a different ways. One way being the one you point out of the desire for power. This has been around forever, although the degree to which it affects us negatively could be growing.
