I've just come across this site: http://www.issuebits.com/

They say they will answer any question! I asked: Will global oil production peak (as described by Peak Oil theory) resulting in global energy crisis, permanent recession and die-off? If not, why not?

And received this reply:$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')lthough global oil production with, no doubt, peak AQA expects the world to have other energy sources by then so there will not be an energy crisis.

I followed this up with: Once global oil production peaks, what will replace oil or will there be ongoing energy shortages, forever reducing the scope of civilisation?

And received this reply:$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'O')nce global oil production peaks various alternative energies will replace it including wind, solar and water power. There will not be ongoing shortages.

Great! ;)

Ask them how much petroleum it takes to get a kilogram of wheat germ from from an unplanted field to a harvested crop and a store shelf and then a home pantry. Insist they account for every step and all the petroleum-derived fertilzers, machine oil, plastic packaging, etc. Ask them how do wind and solar provide that fertilzer and plastic?

Wind and solar and water? Those guys are an 8-ball joke. Might as well ask them where Jimmy Hoffa is.

Ask them when the last famine in England was and what technologies have been preventing them since.

Ask them why it took millions of years for the human population to reach 800 million but only 200 - 300 for it to get from 800 millon to 6.5 billion.

I asked: Why did it take millions of years for the human population to grow to 1 billion but only 200 years to increase to today's 6.5 billion? What enabled that growth?

Their reply:$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')ince there were initially fewer people in more widespread locations the birth rate was low. The birth rate has gradually risen as has life expectancy.
