I thought it was a pretty good response. I'm going to print this out and give it to one of my siblings who is a firm believer that we have nothing to worry about and once Iraq starts pumping gas should drop to a 1.50 or less (YEAH RIGHT!)...

Excellent article indeed, particulary because the author use common assertions (questions asked by oil customers, virtually all of us) to proove how wrong "we" are.
Moreover, he shows how easy it is to inform people about peak oil issue without mathematics or Hubbert curb. This way, even a dumb ass (let's say an exxonomist or a SUV driver :p) can understand how compromised is our future.

In the following article you have many examples of an ignorant Joe Blow demanding that oil costs come down. At least the author who responds is (for the most part) telling it like it is:

This reminds me of a phrase that was popular in my household as a kid, when someone wanted something that wasn't possible.

"And the people in hell want ice water."

The e-mail that MSNBC shows us two things:
1) There are plenty of consumers who don't understand simple supply/demand economics
2) There are plenty of consumers who don't understand the logistics of where the oil is at
3) There are plenty of consumers who now want to know what the hell is going on.

Times are going to be interesting.
