I don't think so. I left a few forums that I belonged to for years. Stopped cold turkey. Never posted again.

Yeah, but this was his VERY FIRST DAY! And he skips in here telling us how nutty we are... takes a few swings... posts a WND article on abiotic oil (LOL!!) then he gets kicked around a bit and and walks out. I tell ya, this doesn't happen every day around here.

I certainly hope he and the rest of the Happy Face crowd are right. The thought of total economic and ecological collapse scares the daylights out of me sometimes.

Maybe if he would come back and tell us more...

Debriefing is good. (group hug)
He sent me a PM - we are going to have lunch together and he promised not to bring re-runs of "all in the family"...or the 50-cal.

Will you need me to bring along a few of my Russian friends, just in case? We could hang around out front and greet him as he leaves.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ReducedToZero', 'I') must say though, theoretically.... oil is renewable, on a VERY LONG TERM BASIS...

I'll just get in my time machine and check it out a few hundred million years down the line...

I did not see anything the op wrote that was overly offensive, and I'm disappointed he won't be posting here again. It was a entertaining read, while it lasted. Try not to scare the next one away, will yah.. geeze. :-D

Well - in the title he put "may be my last"... He came into this knowing dam well he was going to pick a fight. And that he did.

Ignorant people need to not be so obvious about it.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

I thought we did a nice job welcoming him here. We showed him around, quite a few nicely shook his hand, we offered him a drink and showed him some nice casual reading material. I even offered a relaxing welcome wagon video featuring some of my overseas friends. For crying out loud, even the Big Boss dropped by, TWICE, which is a rare treat for new guys. We treated him like royalty and should applaud ourselves for this.

Well done, everyone!! :)

And then what? He simply walks out on us. Dumps us all like we don't even exist anymore. I feel like we've been taken advantage of somehow. And we had so much more to offer. Strange, how totally rude some people can be. :x

Hello OilDummy, and welcome.

My first exposure to PO was Lifeaftertheoilcrash.net & it was so gloom & doom I decided to disprove the peak oil theory. After 6 months of intense study I found that I could not disprove it. That's when I joined this site & started posting.

I think the real revelation for me was finding out that EVERYTHING has to do with oil...From your wood chair to oranges in your fridge & water running out of your (our) faucets...Absolutely EVERYTHING in our society depends on oil.

Once you realize that point, the future starts to look pretty bleak. May I suggest you check out a few forums at this site such as planning for the future or depletion economics...This place is an absolute wealth of information!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('OilDummy', 'O')h, and please don't discount me...I very nearly lost everything attempting to become part of the organic agriculture movement 10-15 years ago. That was a hoax as well. Nice idea, but a cruel hoax to promote the beliefs that O.A. could ever be economically viable for the individual farmer.

WOW! Sorry you nearly lost everything due to organic agriculture. OA is alive and well..... far from a hoax here in Oregon. I actually have close friends who have gained EVERYTHING from OA. No hoax here.
Just my humble observation.

Oh no! But we're just so darn likable!!

How could anyone lose a ton of money in organic agriculture anyhow. That sounds fishy to me. We have many organic farms around here and the one we volunteer at and support is doing quite well as are the others!

Maybe he just wasn't that into it. Maybe abiotic agriculture is more his bag.
