$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('OilDummy', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('vision-master', '1') thing, you gotta remember oildummy, this place is full of PO fundamentalists. No different than those religious ones. You will be brow-beat relentlessly here until to conform with the PO sheeple ppl.
Yeah, I see that.
Instead of stepping into this party swinging a baseball bat, maybe a gentler approach might work. You know, maybe treat this as a learning experience rather than target practice? Try that instead for awhile and maybe you'll convert and become 'One Of Us'. 8O

Are you talking to me? Why would I want to be accepted:
1) in a place I'm not welcome?

2) in a place that treats newcomers/strangers so poorly?

3) where baseball bats are reserved for the residents and recommended to be excluded from the newbies?

I've been around long enough and read extensively enough to know there are few "experts" even amongst those who make such claims. Knowing that, I roam from place to place challenging any tightly held view in an attempt, not so much to shake anyone from their heartfelt views, but to make them painfully aware that there is opposition, just as strong as their beliefs, to their often fringe beliefs.

I am a rabble-rouser and proud of it. I mean no harm. I want you to think. I've done all my thinking already and I know where I stand.

That doesn't mean I'm ignorant, just means I'm not going to change, for whatever reason. Maybe I think it's too late to change, won't do any good.

Does anyone know, off the top of their heads, where PO gets its funding...or does it self-support? That'd be an answer to know...yes it would.

Seriously.

Also, your link is courtesy of a news source usually referred to by people with triple digit IQs as Wing Nut Daily. Jerome Corsi once asked how you could find oil thousands of feet below the ocean's surface, when it's preposterous that dinosaurs could ever live down there. I mean, come on!

I really don't agree with Oildummy...

Oil is finite, and I guess for many of us it seems to be obvious...

I must say though, theoretically.... oil is renewable, on a VERY LONG TERM BASIS...

example: if the human population was small enough (1000s of times smaller), and didn't grow at an exponential rate, oil, in theory could form at the same rate of extraction... unless theres a flaw in my logic?

I'm not sure what you mean by the unkind welcome. ALL new members here are treated to a friendly welcome gathering. An 'abiotic' gathering with kindness endlessly bubbling up from the ground! :)

Olafr, THAT WAS NICE! It was VERY nice. As nice as it gets, anyway. Well, this HAS been an education. I gotta go watch my grass grow so I can burn some gas cutting it again.

My goodness! What a thread! Oildummy, you sound familiar for some reason.
If you are interested in learning about Peak Oil, you have come to the right place. I would recommend reading THE ASPO Thread for some basic history.
There are many wonderful, intelligent and insightful posters here, from many walks of life, and many countries around the world, who have researched peak oil for many years, and are gracious enough to share and discuss this serious situation with anyone who makes an effort to truly understand. If you really want to discuss this, with an open mind, you are most welcome to stay. :)
If you are only interested in pushing the community's buttons and "rabble rousing," I am afraid you have come to the wrong place, and, in the end will not be tolerated. This is a research-intensive site, not one of those common blogs where any and all nonsense is tolerated.

When All in the Family was popular, I did think Archie was right more often than not.

Then, later in life I learned Carroll O'Connor was quite left of center, politically, and that wrecked it for me. Can't stand the man, the work he did, most other Hollywood types.

So we stand at diametrically opposed positions in life. Too bad for you you're on the wrong side.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('OilDummy', ' ')Some of you people (present company excluded) just need something to be worried about, don't you?

Actually, I'm not a worrier at all (e.g., Y2K didn't phase me, and "global warming" doesn't register on my radar screen). However, peak oil is very, very real, and it scares the sh!t out of me.

After that morsel gets answered, I suspect this may be the first 'welcome' thread that earns a place in the HOF. Crazy. After all the nice welcome links. the 30 seconds from The Boss. Even a nice welcome boot party video!! Sometimes I just don't get it.

Really - we need to brush up on our welcome skills.

Let's take'r easy on the next one - k?

Personally - I think I did a whole helluva lot better on this guy.

Don't forget to send the eval forms to me...I'd like them by noon if at all possible.
