That's not actually me on the scooter, that's just some random google picture of a dude. I'm 19, so I guess I'm not TOO old haha. But seriously, high school girls are retarded...Say the words "peak oil" to a girl and watch their face turn into:

Haha, I see. Scooter Power! I have a 49cc Yamaha Zuma, like I posted above. I love the damn thing. It's really fun to ride and I take it all over the city of 1-million where I live. They are great for urban city driving.

2000 Civic automatic, 34mpg using Pirelli's. Using zero traction tires it can do 37mpg. Hard to believe automatic transmissions were considered gas hogs 8 years ago and now 34mpg is the promised land.

The Prius fanboys mock it on their races to Silicon Valley, but it's paid for & a lot cheaper than getting a new car every time the latest technology comes out.

I drive a 1964 VW Beetle. Gets somewhere around 27-30 mpg highway.

I've been considering getting one of the Yamaha Vino 125 scooters as a primary vehicle sometime soon. Not just for the better fuel efficiency, but also because the Beetle constantly demands that I feed it new parts....

92 Lincoln Towncar- less than 10 gallons a month. Looking at a Yamaha C3. I would then use a maximum of 2 gallons a month, save 50% on insurance, and increase my chances of adding to the die-off, sooner.

My wife drives a 2001 Echo with automatic transmission. I got 43 mpg on the highway with it recently.

I drive a 2008 four cylinder Ford Ranger that got 32 mpg believe it or not on a recent road trip.

This is the latest addition to the fleet:

www.sunnev.com

I figure it will push the mpg of all three cars to over 100 mpg. We are going to use it to get around town and do errands.

It uses no gas at all, and even makes it's own energy on sunny days.

It was really fun building it. Ours is the bright green pickup in the middle of the webpage.

My husband's car, and the main family vehicle is a 2006 VW Jetta tdi (our 2nd Jetta tdi, fantastic mpg).

...which is in the shop right now, so I had to wince while plunking $92.00 of super in the 2003 Land Rover Discovery this morning. The Discovery used to be my commuter vehicle several years ago when I would drive 10 hours a week. With the price of gas these days, I would no longer be able to afford to make that drive with the wages I was earning.

For my last job, I had to drive 1 mile to the bus station as the first leg of my commute (I would have biked or walked if it wasn't via the interstate for much of it). These days, the Discovery is parked more often than not, and usually on the road for a more utilitarian purpose, like hauling multiple dogs in the back, or towing our boat or trailer.

And a few hobby vehicles:

1969 Land Rover Series IIa 88
1972 Land Rover Series III 109
1976 Land Rover 101 Forward Control
1976 MG Midget

One thing I can say for the vintage Land Rovers - they are very simple vehicles mechanically to maintain. Anything that can still be started with a hand crank is a plus in my book.

2001 chevy x-cab, averages 18.5 mpg. Paid for and it runs great. I'd love to get something with better effiency but at 4 dollars a gallon the vehicle would have to get about 37mpg and cost around 7500.00 just to break even. It's not worth it.................yet.

2008 Scion xB and a 2007 Toyota Camry (both with four cylinder engines).

Used to have an SUV but once gas hit 2.00 a gallon here I saw the writing on the wall and bailed on that thing. The next car will be a Hybrid or a pure EV if we can find something affordable. tHINK as one coming out that is a four seater and gets a range of 115 miles between charges. WE only drive an average of 18 miles round trip to work and work opposit days right now to avoid child care expenses so it would work out.
