What temperment will be more likely to survive and thrive when tshtf?
One tending towards good people skills be it a leader or follower or an aggressive paramilitary type who won't go to the outhouse unless it has a 360 degree field of fire and is sure his ass is covered by the 60 caliber?

Both. Sure, it pays to be well prepared, but no man is an island. The masses can either come to you to kill you and assume the mortgage on your doomstead, or to follow you and do your bidding in exchange for some chow. The real survivors will be the ones who can differentiate between the two.

Pawns are useful.

Definitely need both.
The importance will not necessarily be in either of those, but knowing when to flex which skills. The talking, or the shooting.

I picked skills. Even the most well armed paramilitary type has to sleep. Unless that person has loyal followers, the people that will really survive are the ones that can defend and make their own food.

I suppose that in a micro level, skills are always more important. You have to repair stuff, grow food, help the group stick together in any situation. Shooting around will not be an option for anyone that wants to live past today.
