$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jato', 'P')MS, you are so stubborn.

Maybe I should have said...each of us has a different perception of reality.
Hah! See, I gotcha. You said this thread was a waste of time. Well we wrung some good stuff out of a 'pointless' thread!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('TWilliam', '
')Oh and incidentally... violence is a state of mind, not an overt act. One can kill and be completely non-violent.

(I doubt many will understand this, but it's true nonetheless...)

Are you referring to non-Jews who have died waiting to get through settler roadblocks on their way to hospitals?

:lol: If the shoe fits. . . Actually I was thinking more of the regular dictionary definition of 'reality', not the philosophical one. And as you know (salvia) 'reality is a really big tent. Its big enough for everyone and we don't need to invent new ones.

I was driving home from work when I realized how clever this interjection of Clintonesque was. I am slow on the uptake sometimes. I didn't get NevadaGhosts' joke about eggheads stand up until a day later.

I'm glad somebody appreciated it. It's no fun being clever when nobody notices... :roll:

I generally believe that the economy will enter a recession, then depression, and so on...building momentum towards and overall lack of control. I expect to see a similar adjustment by society and the populace at the social level. As the awareness grows that we won't be able to fight our ways out of this one, living conditions will get progressively worse. I do not expect thids process to occur overnight, but over a period of say 5-10 years. There will be lots of belt tightening at first...then folks will run out of notches to tighten to.

Just my 2 cents. So many variables involved, this statement could be obsolete tomorrow.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('0mar', 'P')O is completely unparalleled in human existence. The only thing that comes close is probably the black death.

<snip pile of simplistic B.S.>

This is reality.

No it's not. It's a piece of fiction you wrote about your retarded fantasy world. It has to actually happen in the real world before it becomes "reality".

Mine is a plausible reality. What is your scenario? We all pluck flowers and use them to cover the energy deficit?

ah i see your strategy, insult, mock, and just plain make fun of people who disagree with you.

his scenario, which might be similar to mine. is that peak oil is only different from the main causes of the other collapses of major civilizations in name and resource only. for the mayans it was soil for their corn/maze, as you know rain forest soil is realitivly poor compared to other farming areas because most of the nutrients in the ecosystem there are locked up in the plants and animals. maze/corn needs a lot of those nutrients. simply put the mayans experienced peak soil.
our culture is no less intertwined with oil then the mayan's was with corn so it would be reasonable to assume that our decline would be similar. recent evidence shows the mayans had a slow decline of several generations marked with wars between the city states.
while it isn't as morbid or as fast of a crash you wish for it will not be flower picking bliss.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('trespam', '
')I nominate this as a runner-up for stupid posts. More self-serving twisting of definitions and history and nature to fit the author's twisted views.
Trespam has graciously withdrawn his rant against the speculative thread about industries in line to take the hit. Very ungrumpylike. Will he now concede that though violence is bad, the use of appropriate force is neither bad nor properly speaking 'violent'?
