That's almost double the traffic I saw on average last week. You people who are now browsing the forum for the first time, what's on your minds? I'm curious. How did you find out about this place and what do you want to know?

Perhaps a news site linked to us? Maybe the web admin can check the logs & see where these extra people are coming from.

Well, I did post a peak oil thread (which included a link to this site) in a gas prices forum about 2 weeks ago. Huge amount of traffic on that site.

Hello Peak Oilers

Postby lizzybeth » Mon 14 Mar 2005, 17:13:44

I have been reading your posts for a while, but am a newbie as far as forums and web stuff goes. I did manage to register, tho.
I really appreciate all the info I have learned here & am trying to put what I can to use in my life. I found your site by accident - I think I heard about Peak oil somewhere else & googled it. Been reading for several months now. Since you asked. :-D

Glad to see you, lizzy. Just think of every new person that visits the site as one less irritating person blaming OPEC/Them Foreigners/Refining Capacity Shortage/Aliens or whatever 5-10 years from now.

I actually heard about this site from an interview with Woody Weatherman from the band Corrosion of Conformity. A good example that word of mouth spreads from a lot of different places. Since then I've watched The End of Suburbia and I just signed up to these forums.
I've become quite convinced that world oil production has already peaked or will peak within the next few years. What I'm interested in finding out is what the ramifications of this will be... Will we be able to adapt or are we entering a period of war and famine at a massive scale?
I guess I might add that I'm a 24 year old computer science student from Norway. I'm looking forward to following the developments along with everyone here!

Hi all. I found this site via google (I first heard about PO a while back). I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now. It's very good to see actual real people (well, internet people but you get the idea) talking about PO. Also good to see some other CoC fans. :)

:-D
but seriously will modern private communications have any effect on how the governments will spin the Peak.
will we see a forced shutdown of sites such as this when SHTF? or equivalent measures?
