Animals get pleasure from music

Unread postby Narz » Sat 19 Jul 2008, 04:25:37

Just was listening to this audio book (Steven Johnson - Mind Wide Open) and he said that animals get "shivers of pleasure" much like humans when listening to awesome music. He said the chickens being experimented on especially liked Pink Floyd. I though that was cool. :)

Also somewhat reinforces my semi-vegetarianism. It's hard to want to eat something that can appreciate Pink Floyd. I wonder if fish can appreciate music. Image

.
That sounds like a great book!
My chickens like opera, Edith Piaf, and Eva Cassidy! :)

At night when I play piano with the windows open, the bullfrogs respond to Beethoven, esp. the the 2nd movement of the Pastoral!

One of my cats loves to hear blues harmonica - (live only).
On the other hand, my other cat only likes John Cage's "4 Minutes 33 Seconds of Silence", and Peterson's "Bird Calls of Eastern America"! :-D
