I'm sure we've done this before while we all wait for the shoe to drop. I've got a nice buzz before I have to go back to work next week. I don't have a TV anymore but I sure got a lot of enjoyment out of TV entertainment over the years. So here's a list:

I Dream of Genie: every young boy's wet dream, Barbara Eden saying 'yes Master!'

Northern Exposure: quirky and unexpected

Dallas: shoot me, I liked it

Moonlighting: witty

Rockford Files: can't explain it, I liked James Garner ever since The Great Escape

X-Files: heh heh, nice opening theme song

heh heh. When I was a kid and there were only 3 networks, we used to wait breathlessly for what new shows would come out in the Fall. If I recall correctly, The Flintstones were the very first show to reach prime time as a cartoon. Then in 1989, The Simpsons made history and are still going.

Northern Exposure was one of my all-time favorites. There haven't been many TV shows that would have me glued to the tube when they were on, but NE certainly was that kind of show for me.

I've also enjoyed ER, The Simpsons and South Park (it's clever, if you can get past the crudeness of it).

Over the years, I've worked mostly evenings so I've missed a lot of the shows everyone talks about.

I was just a little boy when I Dream of Genie was already in reruns, but I remember loving that show. Even then I knew that Tony (master) was a moron. Many of the other shows listed were in my favs too - except for Dallas. My sister liked that. For some reason my mom and I liked watching "Quincy" together.

My favorite program now is probably something like IRON CHEF

You can't beat Batali!

Most of you probably have no idea what i'm talking about.

Don't really watch any 'shows' (sitcoms etc) regularly now but my roomate watches Scrubs and has been watching Arrested Development episodes from DVD and they are both not bad.

Kind of like what we'll all be sooner or later.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to watch season one over the weekend as soon as it downloads. I've watched recent shows on the computer: 24, Jericho & Deadwood. Liked them all.

lol not exactly, I've never met him and he probably isn't aware of my existence. BUT i can clearly trace him down my lineage as a relative.

My mom had a "pen pal" relationship with his father for a few years after that show became popular.

Forty-five years later, I have yet to see anything on television that is the equal in quality to this amazing, short-lived dramatic series:

East Side / West Side

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'E')ast Side/West Side, produced by David Susskind and Daniel Melnick, was among the best of the genre and won instant acclaim. The program about a New York social worker appealed to sophisticates because, according to Lawrence Laurent of The Washington Post, it violated "every sacred tenet for television success." Typical TV heroes all had a similar look, said Laurent, "Short straight noses, direct from a plastic surgeon, gleaming smiles courtesy of a dental laboratory." But Neil Brock, played by George C. Scott, observed Laurent, was "hooknosed and disheveled."

An exemplary episode of East Side/West Side entitled "Who Do You Kill?" aired on 4 November 1963. The story portrays how a black couple in their early twenties living in a Harlem tenement face the death of their infant daughter, who is bitten by a rat while in her crib. Diana Sands played the mother who works in a neighborhood bar to support the family. Her husband, played by James Earl Jones, is frustrated by unemployment and grows more bitter each day.

It was breathtakingly great. I still have vivid memories of many of the episodes.

In my humble opinion, HBO's "The Wire" is far and away the greatest television series of all time, and should have got all the attention and awards that went to "Sopranos," which I found got incredibly boring and pretentious after the first season or two. "The Wire," on the other hand, never has a dull moment; it's dark, funny, complex, and epic in scope. Great acting (mostly by unknown Baltimore natives), awesome characters, and amazing writing. It just recently had its series finale, after five glorious seasons. The fourth was my favorite, it examined the inner city public school system and the effects of the urban drug culture on children. Each season follows, in detail, one giant criminal conspiracy from the perspectives of the cops, the criminals, and the politicians. Anyone who hasn't seen this show, I'd recommend taking 2 days, renting the entire first season, and watching it nonstop. It takes a few episodes before you'll figure out what's going on and who everyone is, but once you do I promise you will be hooked. I've gone through the whole thing 3 times, and it just gets better with each viewing.

I also love Lost, Rescue Me (though this last season kind of sucked), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (same on the last season, unfortunately), The Colbert Report, Weeds (though I hate Nancy so much), and Iron Chef America.

On a side note, go see "The Dark Knight"! It has a real dark, doomerish feel to it, and the Joker has this insane, ultra-nihilistic philosophy that I sometimes see on this site. Totally awesome movie all around, one of the greatest villains ever, and one of the greatest car chases and interrogation scenes ever. Check it out.

Carnivale is very good, albeit far too short-lived a series. :(
