Peak Popcorn!

All you doomers who ask to pass the popcorn with every new gloomy news item may need to find a new entertainment snack.

Popcorn prices set to pop "The consumer will probably see an increase in popcorn prices pretty soon,” said Carlton Smith, the chairman of Iowa’s Jolly Time popcorn brand."

And this just in from NPR: Popcorn price increase "Other makers report price hikes as high as 40 percent."

No, this will only make the popcorn taste better.

It's like watching images of starving refugees in Darfur while enjoying a fine meal. The difference in means and situations seasons the meal nicely.

I would consider it as an upgrade to more expensive popcorn.

It used to be pretty common for farmers out there to plant a little bit of popcorn, and then let it stand in the field as a food source for pheasants.

Non-intense use of farmland, diesel, this practice will probably go the way of the dodo for awhile.

Pheasants, themselves, were stocked for a long time, I think their population is relatively stable right now....

It will be interesting to see how these practices change, if at all.

This is serious, and I am serious.

There is doom and then there is DOOM.

This is DOOMER talk.

We are seriously going to spend a lot of money (even if I have to put it on a charge card) to stock up on popcorn.

We are getting our own milk cow next year. So we will have butter.

There WILL be hot buttered popcorn at our place to the end!

Lumpy

PS -- Oh, yeah, and we are going to grow our own, too. Yeah, those nice ears of corn with dinner are great. But POPPED corn is mandatory to life!
