$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Narz', 'W')hat was death like? You remember anything?

Aaron came close to it, but, thank HawkMan and/or The Flying Spaghetti Monster, he didn't quite get there. If he had, we would be mourning him now, not chatting with him on a forum.

He had a near-death experience. He didn't die. There's a critical difference, don'tcha think?

(Really glad you didn't run off and leave us stranded, Aaron. You'd be sorely missed.)

No, I would say he was "dead". No heartbeat is "dead". It isnt partially dead, mostly dead, kind of dead or somewhat dead. No heartbeat is "dead".

It was serendipity that you found yourself at the just the right hospital entrance at just the right time.

Somebody up there likes you.

At first I thought you were writing fiction! Holy Crap! Many thanks to Hawkman (whoever the heck that is) for watching over you.

No no no. He wasn't all the way dead, or he wouldn't be talking with us. He was only kinda dead.

Nope. He wasn't dead at all. You do not recover from death. You can't. You're dead. Surgeons stop hearts during operations quite routinely. Their patients go home a few days later, very much alive.

If a stopped heart is defined as death, why do paramedics try so hard to re-start peoples' hearts? What would be the point if the person they are frantically working on is already dead?

Cessation of all electrical activity in the brain is "death". From Aaron's post, I'd say all systems are go between his ears. That's all that matters.

Like me and my cancer scare, you dodged the bullet.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Aaron', '
'). Seems I had "accidentally" stumbled into the one place within a thousand miles which was capable of helping me.

makes me wonder about these coincidences..
In 2002,one Argentinian teenager whom I have never met broke headphones he was using in cyber-cafe in Buenos Aires. In 2006, my daughter was born in USA as a direct result of his/hers misdoings.
I am sure someone from Houston doesn't teach computer science in Atlanta every other day. A chain of seemingly unrelated acts led you there, and as a result you are still alive. I'd say that means you are not done here yet. Perhaps you can drive now 120m/hour safely; Perhaps that's what you are not done with yet;

Anyways I am glad you are alive, enjoy every day as if it was your last one !

Amazing!

Nothing like that ever happens to me!

Well apart from that time I was flower arranging in a huge barn when I was 9 years old and I just happened to be out of my seat and up the top of the table collecting flowers (went up for a few mins every half hours or so) and this massive stereo thing fell off the ceiling 20 metres down right onto my chair where I would have been sitting. I'm sure I would have been dead for sure if I hadn't been getting those flowers. Even though it happened around 20 years ago I still remember it vividly.

Glad you're not dead and all that but what I really need to know is, what is the air speed velocity of an African Swallow?

1. I am glad that you are not dead. Not as glad as you, not as glad as your lovely bride, your big son and little girl but I join in the collective sigh of thankfulness.

[preach-e-ness on]

2. $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')etter to be lucky... than smart.

but what we do with that luck, that is the issue. Luck visits unexpectedly, smart is with you always. Be smart with this unexpected luck, ok hoss?

wishing you love,

Wow Aaron. Really happy you made it! Gosh, between you and the baby seal rescue--it's been quite an interesting couple of days.

And what an amazing synchronicity that you just happened to be right at the hospital when the pain became most intense. Perhaps this will provide some kind of impetus to look into matters of the soul and spirit?---As long as you don't get bent out of shape when people use your term, Hawkman, and insist instead on "our heavenly father"!! That would be so hilarious. PROMISE you're not going to end up passing out Watchtower mags on street corners! :lol:

Dude, thought it was one of those joke posts I figured I would eventually get around to reading. You can't let this happen again.

Use that brain of yours to build a device or well an addon (APP) to the iphone where all you have to do is press a button and have it so that it will automatically log on to peakoil.com and post a notification that you are in trouble or dying. I am sure you can get something setup that will allow you to notify us with one of those ajax full screen messages letting us know what is going on.

Also make sure that in the event of another one of those that you also get some footage to post of the surgery (we are a morbid lot)

in all seriousness Aaron, I am glad to hear you are doing okay.
