Do you wonder if *Bushco, working through the PNAC site and various neo-conservative think tanks and grant funding bodies, is quietly and subtly moving peak oil into the mainstream from the alternative press to panic the sh** out of people? This would dampen hostility about oil prices that may sky-rocket to 100.00 per barrel. Could this occur in a geological and economic environment, where, realistically, without collusion and price fixing on the part of oil companies, prices would settle out at more like 60.00 or 70.00 in 2005 and into 2006?
I'm certainly not contesting that there is a peak oil issue, just that given this administration's track record, it seems they would take public acceptance of the issue as a green light to maximize their profits.
The conspiratorial and geological approach to peak oil don't seem to be mutually exclusive.
