Holy crap! 46,000 out of 118,000 electricity customers given disconnection notices. That's almost 40% I note that they won't disconnect if you 'make an effort' to pay. I suppose a lot of people will pay 20, 30% of their bills to keep from being disconnected until winter simply because they have no choice. These power companies are going to go bankrupt just like the ones in Asia who have to pay the going rate for energy but can't sell at above the State mandated price level. btw, I'm sure the folks who run those power utilities in Maine are quite upset about this too. They live there, it's their home too. They're between a rock and a hard place.

Well, that sounds severe!
I use a Japanese, indoor kerosene heater that keeps my rooms with pipes warm. It cost maybe $600-700 last winter for 200 gallons. That helps keep bills lower than most of my neighbors during the winter. I wonder how much waste the 40% could cut out?
