I have two kids and I plan on having at least one more. Maybe two.

I'm a bit of an optimist.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PrairieMule', 'O')k I have another secret. Although I grew up in a solid middle class republican suburb by a capitalist father, he was a radical enviromentalist. He joined the Sierra Club back in the 70's and use to take me to all the protests. I can recall at age 10 having to hand out Anti-Regan, Anti-James Watts, Anti-pork barrel literature in my neighbors mailboxes. I think he did it to meet and score with hippie women(which he did) after he divorced Mom. It was kind of cool growing up in the Sierra club back in the 70's. Aside from the overnight canoe trips(with more hippie women),The Lonestar Chapter of the Sierra Club would meet at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

So every month I got to spend a couple of hours running around in the dark with Dinosaur exibits while the adults plotted to derail the Ford and Reagan Administration.

Your Dad was kind of guy I wished I'd been! I hated Reagan! (I grew up in California; I had a lot of experience with him as governor!)

I just recently bought another super-awesome laptop computer, even though I KNOW it's all going to come crashing down shortly.

the fact that my sister and her husband just got their first baby and that I can't be happy for them
I try very hard to pretend to, but I'm more worried instead.

Currently I have a 120 mile round trip commute, three days a week. I took this job after I learned about peak oil.

Olaf, you still got me beat.

Also: I was completely unprepared for the size and suddenness of the plum harvest. Though I gorged and shared, many good plums fell and went bad. :(

The peaches are up soon. I'll be ready!

I've just done something similar - $1600 on a new laptop, $200 (the warranty) of which is on credit. In my defense, it will replace my desktop which consumed twice the energy.

Nothing wrong with that. It's a good idea to buy into the best technology you can get your hands on while it's still cheap and readily available.

My cousin has a young son and I think she's going to have another kid and I feel the same way. I have to bite my lip to avoid bringing up Malthus.

I guess I could tell ya all secrets I keep, but if I did then I'd have to kill ya all!!!!!!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'S')ecrets you keep from your fellow POer's

I don't talk about it much here but I work on my '69 Ford, short-bed 4wd pickup with the 390 big block, four bbl carb and dual exhaust for enjoyment when I get the chance.

I think about PO sometimes as I tune that engine or work on the upholstery and every time I start it up just to hear it run.

What is the secret activity you keep from your fellow POer's?

Try to keep it at least relatively clean and honest.

I have two large-screen televisions, and don't plan on giving-up my video gaming anytime soon. I'll add that power consumption to my calculations when buying an off-the-grid PV system.

I've also given-up on convincing some family members. But I plan on caring for them when things do go bad.
