My dream vacation would be a weekend each at: ( in no particular order )

WisJim's
Pops'
Shanny's
Kathy's (CarlinsDarlin)
Ludi's

....homestead. I'm sure they'd put me right to work too! which would be great!

Truthfully, unless fate has another plan...

I'll never venture far from my home ever again. I'm not the travellin' type.

The problem with vacations in Europe is, it takes something like a million dollars to go there, almost all of we Empire subjects are in effect financial prisoners of the Empire.

Although, caricatures/music could perhaps land me a cruise ship job then when I get to Europe, jump ship. Take no ID with me, forget all the English I can and come up with some strange accent. Also better work on learning French now because I'll need at least one European language. I honestly think it may be better to be a street person over there than a supposedly successful person here.

I've been to quite a few places for work and pleasure, but hands-down the best place I've been so far has been Australia. I'd love to go back. I'd also love to visit and backpack Alaska in a June or July.

spend a week wallowing in the flesh pits of hong kong, or dive some of the pacific islands, i would love to tour some of the finer, out of the way restaurants in france. Two weeks in the keys, fishin' and snorkeling during the day and eatin' and drinkin' at a nice bar/restaurant at night. Amsterdam? eatin'/drinkin' and rediscover weed for a week?Nah...that urge is gone, sadly.would love to see the great wall.

You hope I catch HIV Plants? Strange thing to say, not strange like I don't expect things like that from you, just a strange thing to say, I'm a white person, you know that don't you? Well , I am 1/8 seminole but white other than that. Were you able to detect the brownness in my speech patterns?Plants wants me to die, how very, very strange. I'm not angry or sad, just sorta perplexed.

Funny you mentioned that, I am off to Pattay Thailand in three weeks. My stepfather is over there working for Dow, so for christmas I got a plane ticket. From what I have read Pattay and Bankok are a lot like Vegas.

I have four days to dive, shop, para sail, get a thai massage, watch the Muay Thai fights and pick up a few dvds. One thing I am jazzed about is on the island of Koh Lan I can rent and fire almost any automatic weapon ever made for $15. I'm told for one dollar more they will throw a live chicken out in the gun range for you to mow down.

One thing I won't do play russian roulette at the go-go bars. Half the working girls there are either infected w/HIV or they are "Ladyboys".

I'm kind of viewing this as the last time I may ever fly.

And you're not going to freakin Nigeria? Dang. :-)

My choice for last vacation involving a flight would be the 'Dam for a couple weeks.

Prairie - done right, you could set up an English school or something there and maybe make out alright. Thai food/climate are great, and the people I've met from there are pretty nice folks, the one thing I've heard is don't disrespect their King, he's loved by his people and they're fairly serious about that. I've heard he plays the saxophone or something too, that he's a pretty cool guy.

I don't actually want jboogy to die, I don't think, but anyone who plays roulette with the black clap and the ladyboys needs to be trimmed from the gene pool.

It was a fookin' joke, it's a phrase I heard somewhere years ago that stuck with me, I pull it out from time to time in the right circumstance. When I first read it , it struck me as deliciously funny and decadent so I've never forgotten it, I haven't engaged in any risky behavior since I've been married and that's going on 16 years. Notice that my dream vacations after that are rather pedestrian. That was a horrible thing to say Plants and you meant it. I fear I'm seeing you descend into madness before my eyes and it's not pretty. I can see you going postal if the wrong person gives you a dirty look.

Nah, don't aggrandize yourself.

I just figure you, like a million or so sex tourists, are serious about some of that poontang. I used to sit in a shop full of Vietnamese and Cambodians who'd brag about all the gals(?) they'd laid on the last visit over there, and how many they were going to lay the next time. I thought at the time, At least AIDS has not made inroads there but I guess these days it's all over the place. There are all kinds of people who consider themselves the height of moral and proper, stickin' it in all kinds of things over there.

You know, if we can hold things together long enough, AIDS may just save humankind. Take the population pressure off. Sadly, only those with Victorian values will be spared, but then maybe that's where Victorian values came from in the first place.

Greenland. From everything I've read about the place, it's supposed to be incredible. If things hold together through 2009, I'll be going there next summer. The only downside is the need to fly out from Baltimore.

Taking a 3 week vacation from here.

Unread postby jasonraymondson » Sat 26 Apr 2008, 21:57:50

Just so you all don't think I am dead, I am heading off of here for three weeks while I finish up finals.

See you when I get back.

If anything really scary starts happening and if you feel like it, just post a link to the post in this thread so I don't miss any good doom.

link about 30% solid doom articles. maybe 40 or 50% some days. plus article archives going back a few months, maybe a year.

link doom a plenty.

link Mark R.'s website. 9-11 informed.

link... John Mauldin's articles. he's manages money for rich people and writes and his articles about the credit crisis have been really hard-hitting, he doesn't under-play it. but he tries to fit in, he's trying to sell his services, so he makes fun of the notion of a "plunge protection team", etc.

anyway, that's quite a spectrum. who knows what will happen in 3 weeks. maybe copper will hit $5 a pound.

Vacationing in DC this week

Unread postby Ayoob » Wed 02 Jul 2008, 02:31:35

George Washington is my personal hero. I'll be visiting his estate in a couple of days and can't wait to tour his distillery and slave quarters, and pick up a couple of plates his old lady had made in a design honoring the original 13 colonies.

Thomas Jefferson's memorial is my second favorite. What a majestic display! I can't get over how TJ was a man of his times, educated, tough, fair, and just. Read the Jeffersonian Bible.

The WWII memorial is beautiful. All those gold stars mean something. Any WWII vets who haven't made the trip yet, please do. Only a quarter of your number remain, I wish there was a sign-in book for you guys to make your mark.

The FBI headquarters, the Teamsters Union building, the Jones Day law offices, the Navy museum (underground, commemorating the contribution of submarines), the kick-ass subway system, the hotels from the 1700s and on, this has just been an amazing walk back through history.

The Lincoln Memorial was particularly poingnant to me. I read his Gettysburg address and his discussion of slavery on the opposite wall, while recounting in my head his statements regarding the same as transcribed from the back of a train on his re-election tour.

FDR's monument of four terms as POTUS look like ruins, while TJ's and GW's monuments are erected to memorialize conquering heroes.

Back in the days of the Founding Fathers, the price of a rifle was a year's wages. Now, through the Citizen's Marksmanship Program, you can own a rife equivalent to those carried in the Korean War for the sum of two weeks' pay at minimum wage.

Whoever you are, this country is yours for the taking. But you have to take it from Americans.
