Instant Comfort

Unread postby kpeavey » Wed 02 Jul 2008, 01:15:10

With the news of the day not being good, combined with my world view, it is excellent to find a simple relief valve to relax, find my speed, put in some background music and let the strain of the day flow away.

I can stand this kind of music
Nora Jones: Don't Know Why

If it is all too much, take a break from the action.

What do you do to find yourself?
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--for ever."

They make more sense and speak more truths than any adult I've ever met.

Put some rocks on their heads to keep them from growing.

I have no kids, have to be envious of yours.

This one is good, too: Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On Music is great for temporarily forgetting about the troubles of the world.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, and speak kindly.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass;
It's about learning how to dance in the rain.

Generally, I turn off the computer and/or TV, get the house absolutely quiet (send the kids outside to play) and relax with a good book. Sometimes I head out to the barn and play with my goat kids. They're always fun to take your mind off stuff.

I find that this song makes me smile and sing along:

Electric Light Orchestra - "Mr. Blue Sky"

Edit: Just wanted to add a small part of the song's lyrics:

Sun is shinin' in the sky,
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin'
Everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day
