$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BigTex', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', 'O')k, how about we lay a pipeline from Earth to Titan. I realize the orbit's of Titan and Earth could pose a technical challenge. However, we all know TECHNOLOGY and the MARKET can solve any problem.

So I suggest we look into a heat- resistant pipeline with 186 million miles of 'wiggle' room to account for the back and forth movement of the Earth through its orbit. Hey, when the price of oil gets high enough, this could be a viable option.

Just like cold fusion, which is only 20 years away (again).

That's actually not a bad idea.

Let's see, the Alaska Pipeline is about 800 miles long, so the Titan Pipeline would really just be like about 200,000 Alaska Pipelines.

We wouldn't even need to build any supports for it, since it will be in space and there wouldn't be anything to attach it to anyway. In many ways, it will be a lot easier, I would think.

No, that's just the 'wiggle' room, which I calculated incorrectly. Anyhow, then we have to string the darn thing all the way to Saturn, which is somewhere around 800,000,000 to 1,100,000,000 miles from Earth depending on their relative positions around the sun. I suppose that means more like 300,000,000 miles of 'wiggle' room.

But it doesn't matter because we all know the market and technology can solve any supply and demand problem. :)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Precipice', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('startswithearthquakes', 'J')ust drag that biznitch back and replace our current moon with that one ...

LOL! Why didn't I think of that! Maybe we could somehow combine the 2 and make ourselves the ultimate super-moon??

A better idea would be to cover one side of Titan with nuclear rockets, fire them all at once, and simply PUSH Titan over from Saturn and SMASH it into our moon. The good stuff would RAIN down on Earth for centuries as Earth passes through the debris field. No need to go get the juice. Just sit back and collect it as it falls from the sky!

No more energy problems again ... ever! I say let's roll! :)

The nuclear rockets idea is quite compelling I must concede. However, there might be a more economical way that involves firing only a few nuclear rockets: what we do is suitable position a large enough asteriod and then use far fewer nuclear rockets to nudge that asteriod into Titan. Once that asteriod gets close to Titan, Titan's gravity should accelerate the asteriod such that when impact occurs enough momentum is generated to send Titan hurtling towards the Moon.

However, the asteriod needs to have *just* the right positioning and trajectory and speed....also it needs to be of a sufficiently bouncy consistency so that it does not break Titan up on impact. Owing to the unlikelihood of finding such an asteriod occuring naturally, may I suggest we assemble a synthetic asteriod in earth-orbit made of garbage (a la Futurama). This will also solve the world's garbage problem, and upon impact the garbage should spread all around the surface of titan so that it acts as a cushion when Titan impacts our Moon.

Yes, it's been a very productive day at the office.....

Well, at least we know that we'll have a good team ready, whatever plan we adopt:

I'm not having any Jupiter moon oil threads in the Energy Technology forum. Banished to the Open Forum....
