Suggestion, right now the software tells you if you have a 'new' private message. While this is helpful in some circumstances if you do not notice it when you are looking at the page the next time you log on it logically says you have 0 new messages unless additional messages came in while you were logged off.

I think the board would be better served if the counter told you how many UNREAD private messages you have, that way you would see the number of waiting messages every time you came online instead of just the first time after the message was sent. I have noticed that sometimes private messages I send are not read for some time by the recipient and I think this is part of the reason...

Hi Jay, I did reply, just now. If messages are shown in the outbox they haven't been opened by the recipient. Sent messages are those which have been opened. Messages in your outbox can still be cancelled/ edited. Once sent they can't be.

I am trying to contact a forum member and my messages aren't getting through. Is the problem with the forum, or is there something on my end that I'm not doing. I don't get it. Maybe the problem will be addressed along with the other glitches that are currently popping up. Here's hoping. I'm trying to pass phone, address email to Nicholai and don't want to do it on the open forum.

I don't think this site has ever been glitch-free. I remember the long posting delays, and the session issues after the overhaul. You know, outside of the actual content of the forums, the technical problems are just as much a turn-off to the uninitiated. I really don't think the traffic on this site is high enough for these to merely be a symptom of overloaded servers.

You might want to look at the stats on alexa. You'll see that traffic tracks predictably based on the price of gas. It's been very slowly creeping back up as gas prices go up.

I don’t know the specifics but it’s pretty common that you need to have a certain number of posts before you have full access to all functions. It’s usually about 10 or a dozen.

Just make a couple of posts on active threads and shortly you will have all rights.
