Not a good way to start a Monday morning. I just had logged onto msnbc and i was somewhat stunned. I just was watching his DVD on Saturday.

I was listening to the part about the flooding. How he loves natural disasters.

George Carlin will be missed.

I had to add this:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '"')Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money." -- George Carlin

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('golem', 'D')oes this mean his demise is thus a harbinger of the world about to "spin itself into oblivion"?
Is George tuning in?

...to the big electron is my guess. Whoooa. Whoooa. Whoooa.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('George Carlin', 'S')ee I don't worry about the little things: bees, trees, whales, snails. I think we're part of a greater wisdom than we will ever understand. A higher order. Call it what you want. Know what I call it? The Big Electron. The Big Electron...whoooa. Whoooa. Whoooa. It doesn't punish, it doesn't reward, it doesn't judge at all. It just is. And so are we. For a little while.

I've always loved George Carlin's comedy. I grew up loving him as the hippy dippy weatherman. He will definitely be missed.

BTW, as an aside... how well he was entrenched into our collective cultural knowledge: My husband's name is Carlin. Anytime he meets someone new, and they ask his name, he says, "Carlin, you know, like George." A few people at his last job called him George all the time :)

Amazing man. Though I don't expect the fanfare that Tim Russert got last week, Carlin deserves all that - times 10.

Suck! I just saw this. George was one of the good guys.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Reuters', 'H')is comedic sensibility revolved around a central theme: humanity is a cursed, doomed species.

How can you argue with that?

The 10 Commandments, revised.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('George Carlin', '
')I. Thou shalt always be honest and faithful to the provider of thy nooky.

II. Thou shalt try REAL hard not to kill anyone unless, of course, they pray to a different invisible man from the one you pray to.

III. Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself.

Yea, imagine if he had the national platform that Russert enjoyed over the years. I saw Carlin on some show last year and he looked really good for 70.

Hard to believe he's gone. I've been a Carlin fan since he first appeared so long ago. He was as sharp and funny as ever right to the end.

What a shock and shame.

Anyone have the link to where George Carlin talks about peak oil and the die off. It was posted on the forums just a few months ago but now I can't find it.

Nope that is not the one. It was just a month or two ago when he talked how humanity is poorly run because we used up half the oil and that it will all come to an end soon. George Carlin was aware of everything we talk about here and he tried to take it main stream.

Edit: Used the search function and went down every link and got nothing. The post must have been deleted for all the cursing. A true shame because it was one of the better Gems and this pile of trash here.
