Are we spoiled? I think the answer, generally speaking, is yes, if we live in a first world country. But not necessarily so, because many people in Canada and the US, for example, don't have what they need. I think of being spoiled as more of an attitude thing, like stomping off in a huff if you don't get what you want, or not wanting to work hard for anything. Also, some people grow up with affluence but have a poverty of attention and/or affection from those most important to them.
But, generally, I guess I am spoiled in that I can do a lot of the things I like to do, choose what I'd like to cook for supper, eat out occasionally, buy my loved ones birthday gifts and Christmas gifts...the list could go on quite a ways! Also, I feel fairly safe in my home, city, country. I know I have so much more than so many others have, materially and otherwise. I count myself so fortunate that I was born when I was and have the parents I have. I do feel confident, though, that I can get by with a lot less.
