Gas Theft at Dodge Dealership

Unread postby timmac » Wed 18 Jun 2008, 19:02:56

We all at one time or another have had fuel stolen from our auto's but my lastest theft of gas from my Ddoge Dakota happen at a place I did not expect would happen,, I left my truck at a local Dodge dealer for some work and filled up tank before taking to dealer and the next day when work was finished I got in to leave after paying $750.00 for repairs I notice the gas tank was at 1/4,, no there was not repairs in the gas tank area at all just some employee at dealership filled there auto with my gas,, now it seems as if its not safe at the repair shop either,,, they even have security at night and gates are locked down and cameras every where so it had to be from somone working at dealer,, it's starting to look as if we need to watch our black gold that we carry around a lot more closer...

Check your odometer when you turn the vehicle in and when you get it back.

Some dealerships permit employees and service writers to drive your car around.

No, they won't admit it. But the numbers tell the story.

Locking gas cap.

Unless they are going to detach fuel lines.

Repair work also often requires a test drive. Especially things like front-end alignments and just about anything to do with the transmission. Probably not 3/4 of a tank though...

There was a test drive and odometer shows about 8 miles driven but that does not use even a 1/8 of a tank let alone a 3/4 tank,, I thought about talking to the service writer about this but thought it might just fall on deaf ears,, I know gas theft happens any where but thought the car dealer was at least a safer place,, but it looks as if as gas gets higher even your brother or sister might even steal your gas,, I guess its time to start thinking about making our gas tanks like fort knox,, I know next time there will only be 1/4 tank of gas in tank next time I visit the dealer for repairs..

I would say don't bother with the locking gas cap, the news lately has these thugs just puncturing the tank and taking the gas that way. If they really want it, they will get it however they have to. Just my opinion.

Someone tried to steal our gas last night!
They tried getting the gas cap open.
No one has ever tried that on us or anyone we know! X[
