Peak Oil realization and Meyers-Briggs type.

I attended a workshop over the weekend where we talked about Meyers-Briggs type. I looked it up quickly on the internet, and my type was defined (before all the text about how my brain works - quite accurate BTW) as "The Realist". Perhaps people's Meyers-Briggs type insticates how receptive they will be to the facts of Peak Oil. For example, Ps (Percievers) will be much more receptive to the facts than Js (Judgers) will be. Ps will see the data and realize that yes, there will be a problem. For Js, the data will be less important than the judgement they have made, supported by the overall society, that there shouldn't be a problem.

I think that's a bit of a misrepresentation of the P vs. J difference. A perceiver is someone who's interested in perceiving information and sees it as an end in itself. A judger is a person who's interested in perceiving information because of the judgements he can make based on it. There are a lot of engineers and IT types here, and they tend to be J. But imagination and the ability to "see all possibilities" are all P traits, so it's possible there could be a bit of a bias. I am INTP, for what it's worth.

Here's are a couple of sites for learning about the types and figuring out which you are:

Dude, I'm the ENFP with the ISTJ girlfriend. This is going to be really funny. There's a perfect description of our relationship in the ISTJ section. Oh, this is gonna be rich.

It's already kind of like that now with she and I.
