Unhappiest of the lot are the oil consumers who find maintaining a car too costly. Their domestic budget is burst too often and there seems to be no end to the price rise.

Consumers living outside the big cities (in Pakistan) are cheated by the oil distribution pumps giving them less than a litre of petrol for the peak prices they pay, and being provided with adulterated petrol. Their loss is multiple, including damage to their vehicles.

LOL. true. this lower middle class and poor are the biggest welfare whiners on the planet.
The upper middle class are mostly the last in the US who actually work for all they have. The wealthy get the biggest handouts of all. Our federal budget is 65 percent entitlements. Did you know that? Go to the concord coalition web site. It sucks. We(upper middle class) will be getting a huge tax increase i fear . We have to pay to keep the gubmint and all the others fed. oh god when cheap energy goes we are fucked, spec.

I just cannot accept this. How can we pay for other humans to have families. Thsi welfare allows them to have multiple kids. They dont work and never will but they keep breeding on our paycheck.

I am one of those on welfare and have never asked to be in this position..I live in a small town to which..I HAD TO pack and move from my home town.. i have worked 2 jobs up here on minamin wage...and tried my darndest to support the 4 children I have...well while I was working my ass off childrens aid came in and took the kids away cause I could not afford a babysitter..and the kids nextdoor beat the crap out my kids and beacuse I could not be home to protect them I was a bad mother working her butt off...and there is no help up here..oh yea and the dead beat dads owe 10 of thousands in support...so don,t whine about me I,m doing fine..got go pack me stuff andlive in my car...see you on the streets looking for handouts..I would have been better off collecting welfare then working...

The US "middle" class are the champion suckers of all time. They do all the work, pay all the taxes, believe all the hype, and are totally clueless. Of all the folks I've explained PO too, my middle class friends are by far the most uncomprehending of their pathological dependence on petroindustrial civilization.
I have 2 lifelong friends-married, professionals, who have read "The Party's Over", "Powerdown", "Overshoot", "Against the Grain", etc,etc and their big topic of conversation last weekend was what color to paint their house this spring and a stupid "limited edition" bronze statuette they bought for $1900!!!
I could easily live for a year on $1900.

I dont recall OFFERING to pay for low wage earners. It is NOT my responsiblity to take care of people who cant take care of themselves. It is NOT my job to play "DaddY; to every fuckin girl in the country who goes and fucks there boyfriend and gets knocked up. Its NOT my job to cover YOUR health insurance costs, its NOT my job to pay your rent or buy your food.
Welfare may be a small percentage of the budget, but that doesnt mean it doesnt need drastically changed (Or removed altogether).

I dont buy into the liberal bullshit and spewn rubbish that its My job (or a wealthy persons job) to carry the trash and sludge of society. Fuck that. I dont need the government to play Daddy to every family in this country. Its about personal responsibility, something liberals have been working for decades to eradicate from individuals.

More important than how mean one might be or whose fault it is, is what aspects of life do you actually have control over?

I can ensure that my kids do as well as I can afford for them to do. I can't do shit for poor african children. As heartwrenching as their situation is.
