3 min vid...

And when cities get unliveable the pendulum will swing back the other way...

Too bad these folk will be out of money and a job to make the move.

So I'm thinking that first we contract into the urban densities, emptying the exurbs and suburbs. How long do we stay in the dense urban phase before the larger cities become too energy-expensive to maintain? There's no place for them to go after that, if you do the math. That's when die-off happens, I guess.
Because it's all about the oil.

Then think one step ahead and DON'T move to the city.

I wish our area would invest in public transportation. Instead they pander to the 'hope' of big sports teams coming to Oklahoma City, and waste our money upgrading stadiums that no one will be able to afford to go to. :(

It's not so much a volume thing as it is a wealth thing. It's the wealthy that are moving back into the cities. It's too expensive for even midlle class to afford. It's a reversal of the distribution of wealth and poverty.

You can thank Istook for that - he bought a light rail system for Salt Lake City, and in the same breath criticized OKC leaders who expressed their desire for one.

(He is Mormon, FWIW.)

If any city needs mass transit, its OKC. The city spraws about 621 sq miles which beats Houston at 601 sq miles.

Yep, leapfrog development galore. There's no natural barriers to development (I mean NONE whatsoever), so development occurs literally in every direction.

Your right about no barriers or fences. Speaking of "No Fences"-Thankfully the Red River prevented the rampant outbreak of Garth Brooks "Mo'Betta"shirts from heading south. Some of you non okies are probably not aware of just how much this was a real problem in the mid to late 1990's. The mighty Red river couldn't keep the armadillo from moving north but it did stop future spreading of this fashion leprocy.

I hear Branson, Mo was not so lucky.

(Sorry folks that's a inside okie joke)

Back on the subject of Ghostburbs, It will be a wicked delight to watch the cult of Frisco and Southlake,Tx fade away. Minus BigTex of course.
