$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', 'T')he English language is filled with better ways to express ideas and thoughts. It's loaded with wonderful words so many of which are orders of magnitude better suited for the art of human expression than words that cause ill feelings.
Swearing in speech and in print is in itself a harsh means of communicating. If a swear word seems appropriate in print, turn to the online thesaurus for a synonym thereby allowing kids to read the posting. Piece of cake. :)
But I know these habits are tough to break. Like smoking. 8O

What? you know what? You don't know Jack........kids read the posting. This is the kind of head up your ass stuff that got us into the problems we face now. YEA, like PO> "better ways to express".....what crap. This is the forum to talk about the end of the world and you want better ways to express. MY GOD.

Thanks Ludi. Saved me the trouble. All we're asking is for some civility. Part of civil discourse is refraining from cussing in peoples faces, or eyes. So if you can't say something nicely consider saying nothing for a time. Wait until the anger passes, maybe. Wait until you've calmed down and write more thoughtfully... in a manner more likely to elicit a meaningful response. I mean, that's why we're here. To discuss various aspects of this Common Disaster of ours.

Oh, and there will be no end of the world around here. It'll be the beginning of a different world. Less self-absorbed. Less wasteful. More grateful. Happier too, hopefully. :)

s-hits are a reality of life, that's not c.ursing (test: curse)! for f.ucking sake! And I can't type bo(gn)iga because this 90's tech forum doesn't allow unicode! mierda!

...the equivalent of "f-uck" in (latinamerican) spanish is "coger" (to grab)... few will understand... and it's not used in the same way as in english.

Also, cursing in spanish when most don't understand it is cliche... I guess.

And it should be better to change words as [word deleted], it's silly to replace it with kidoesy words.

Swearing isn't "bad" in Buddhism... as long as it's born from a loving mind instead of ill will. And in this case, talking openly about the collapse of this industrial civilization... it's actually part of being HONEST. I want to say s.hit without punctuation when talking about PO!

And if for some reason you were to run out of good swear words, there's always the multitude of choice phrases from the Singapore side of things. KNNBCCB (Google it !), LPPL, and so on. Most of it is in Hokkien, a dialect of Chinese (Mandarin). And I can tell you from first-hand experience, even the Malays and Indians quickly pick this stuff up in the first three days in the army ...

That's what some say. Others say it's clearly 'harsh speech' and a precept violation. When kids read it it's not very helpful, that's for sure.

Differences exist with different branches of Buddhism, I am well aware.

But if you wish to Walk The Path tossing about such words, please do not toss them at me. :)

I usually don't use such words against anyone, but now that I think about it, I should not use them at all against someone (stop flamming). Censoring s.hit, however, is childish... too "PC" for the sake of it... all humans produce s.hit as waste, it's part of reality. Using it to denote something that is not liked is natural.
