Things settle down after work...

...when people go home and don't have the Bosses dime to dial into PO.com.

I wonder what they do?
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

They dial in to peakoil.com on their other boss' dime and / or they are doing their preps or just having a beer.

Tonight we went to see our daughter's elementary school's "talent" show. 3 hours of uninterrupted music and laughs.

I have now quit prepping because after that the the camps no longer scare me.

Placing aluminum tape on my attic A/C unit which is leaking cold air out of every crack, seam and opening.

It's amazing that any cold air is actually getting into the house.

I am a response specialist for BMW(Think Onstar for BMW). I'm allowed to surf in between airbag and navigation calls.

The aren't as many good news stories over the weekend usually and if there are it usually late Sunday when things get hopping again.

AFTER work? When's that? 8O

Actually, my work IS home, so I'm off and on here all day and night, whenever I can grab a minute. Right now taking a break from working outside all day (and I look like a lobster, I am SO sunburned), but everyone else just walked back out the door, so I guess I better get off here and get back at it...

I am NEVER on PO.com from my office(s). I work non-stop, 9-10 hours a day, not counting the commute. (Lunch 'break' means returning phone calls to patients, etc, while munching on whatever my dear husband has packed in my lunch bag.)

I have to admit, I am envious (okay, and sometimes a little resentful) of the fact that he (and some of you others) can get on these boards during the day when you want to.

Most of my time on the boards is weekends.

Yeah, maybe so -- but I have become an ardent non-fan of "the revenuers" -- and it often (mostly) feels like the Red Queen says in Alice in Wonderland -- I have to run as fast as I can just to stay in the same place.

I am thankful for my work, especially as it has made it possible for certain preparations to happen. But please, please do not think of me as you would someone living in even a moderate-sized city, practicing psychiatry. Rural psych does NOT equal big bucks. And rural psych is what I practice.

Thank God I am paid mileage, as I drive about 1500 miles/month in commutes to the four locations away from my office at home. I live in my little truck, it sometimes seems. And that gets real old. (It's not as bad a heavy traffic commuting, though, that's for sure!)

Ah, enough with the complaints. It's good, valuable work, I believe, and I know it won't last forever. I will look back on these days with a certain longing soon enough, I would suspect.

K3b recompiled to enable DVD ripping on Kubuntu Linux to an avi file, then a little program I found called Avi2iPod for converting it to the correct format for my mp3 player.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'I') do most of my po.com stuff when I'm not at work. When I'm at work I'm actually working, as long as there's stuff to do.

wow, actually working at work? what a concept. Although I feel sorry for those of you that can't get work in these times.

I've done what I can for PO prep at the current house so I spend my single hour of free time in the day usually playing a computer game.

However I'm looking forward to moving to the new house (in 10 days) were I can start a whole new list of PO projects, including a few I couldn't start in the current house because I knew I would be moving soon. (And this time I'm going to get the Home energy audit guy into the house before I start changing things  )

Can't tell you how many times I wish I could log on while I'm at work. I would lose my job if I did. Sometimes it would be nice to visit PO.com when I'm having a little break, but any internet usage at all is strictly prohibited, unless it's a medical site that I need for my work.
