County takes four-day week for energy savings

Unread postby lawnchair » Fri 30 May 2008, 11:25:31

I've mentioned before that an increasing number of more rural school districts around here (Central/Western Kansas) have moved to a four-day week for energy savings. Now, we have our first county government choosing to do the same.

Gove County, Kansas (pop 2721)

Minor stop-gap (in the grand scheme of things), but good to see rational people taking steps.
At 1% annual growth, human bodies will incorporate every gram in the observable universe in approximately 10,170 years.

Our school district is taking a four day workweek over the summer. I think as things worsen this will become commonplace.

A second city government here is moving to a four-day work week. Both Avondale and now Queen Creek are using that strategy. However, I think Queen Creek's massive level of cronyism, corruption, and overemployment of needless city workers would be a better place to start. As soon as the city incorporated, it went hog wild with buildings and vehicles and new government jobs.
