$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Aaron', 'H')ey guys,
Just swooping in and out saying hello to everyone.
Welcome.

WOW!!
Oh yes, one more point: All you new members be reminded. The people running this place, especially Aaron, the boss, are 99% wonderful people. That missing !% can be mildly annoying at times, but it's way better than what people generally experience at ALL the other websites... and far better too than what we all experience in our regular lives! :)

We're very fortunate to be here learning together about this Terrible Tragedy.

I sent you a nice message in open forum. I think you missed it. It's now about the crack of 10, so maybe if you're awake and freshened and coffee'd up, you can scan back for it. It was important. Get back to me or I will jack you up bad. You don't want that.

Welcome new members. I would like to add to the aforementioned items: This in Not your run of the mill, public access blog website.
If you have one (or more) questions about Peak Oil, and/or the possible/probable consequences, please do ask. There are many fine minds here who have been discussing this topic for years and are happy to help out those who are actually interested in the topic. I speak from experience and have benefited from the lessons-you will, too.
If you have a point you would like to make, be prepared to defend it with cites. If you do not have the strength to defend your convictions, do not be surprised if you are ignored.
If you are here to promote your own products, websites, point-of-view, religious ferver, etc., you are in the Wrong Place. Be Forewarned: if you intend to blow your own particular brand of sunshine up someone's backside, be prepared to have your flame extinguished.
Although this is a fairly liberal website (compared to other PO sites), we are not prepared, nor will we be tolerant of those who prove to be unworthy of our time and patience.

Oh, and contrary to appearances at times, there are some highly educated and just plain fun people here. We're not all racist, gun-toting haters.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jasonraymondson', 'T')here are a lot of insightful people posting here and as long as you can avoid Golem you should be able to learn quite a bit. You can probably learn a lot from golem as well, but most likely he will just drive you insane.

Why should newcomers be concerned about that weird guy from LOTR?

Something else to include in a FAQ.

Love that song, PMS, despite all the unwholesome cinematic associations. Was going to quote something but can't think of an example that doesn't have profanity...

Hey, that little guy looks like Jules.

Wow, you look up images of 'Reservoir Dogs emoticon' and you get a hit from TOD...

Nah, it's just someone posting a bunch of repetitive video links with apparently no opinion about them.

Oh. I must have missed that. Someone cleaned it up apparently. I bet spamsters are leaking into this place in record numbers.
I really hope a large number of the new people stick around and participate. I have so much to learn about getting past Our Common Disaster! :)

I have been aware of the subject and have been doing home research for about 3-4 years (whenever I first became aware of the subject).

I have visited this site numerous times as well as every other one I can find. I never attempted to post my views because frankly, I was intimidated by the expertise I found here which I do not possess.

I finally joined because 1) I would like someone to validate my peak oil viewpoint instead of blowing me off and 2) I have a bit more time on my hands this summer than usual.

I appreciate any replies I recieve, as again, it proves I am not a nut and someone is listening somewhere.

I, too, am sometimes intimidated by the expertise here. Whew! It Can be overwhelming. But, I keep plugging along, grateful for the patience of those who have researched it for many years.

This is a great place to learn about all sorts of things. I'm sure you'll figure out what you can contribute. In the meantime, don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

This is one of the most fantastic web sites on the web, freee speech and everyone respects each other unless they make personal attacks. which is super rare.

You can be relaxed here and tell the truth, you won't be skinned alive

it is a great information site.
Be ready...

Hello everybody,
what would be the best thing to do with a fair amount of dollars? It seems that keeping them in an American bank is not a good idea. Any advice?

Johannah, do some reading in the Planning for the Future forum. You can also use the search function at the top of the page for any subject. There are lots of threads about your question and many others. Be aware that there are many different opinions, but we do have experts here and there.
