He wrote Fight Club. It's spelled Palahniuk. My son and I were debating how to pronounce his name. Neither of us had it right. My son gave me the book Fight Club for a birthday present. A fascinating read. Transgressional fiction they call it. Not the sort of writing that EastBay would approve of.

Much social commentary/criticism PMS? I like the film, particularly those elements, and I've considered getting the book now & then...

The book is just like the movie. Or should I say the movie is just like the book. Line for line, it's amazing, Chuck's first book was a hit.

The book was somewhat different from the movie. The ending was different from the movie. Anyways, I thought the book was better and I'm not usually one of those "the book was better" snobs. I just thought the movie wasn't gritty enough... it was too polished, too sterile, too much style and not enough substance. It seemed like it was filmed in the style of an mtv music video. And plus, the main star was the man/tree hybrid Brad Pitt... man, that guy and his wooden acting f**king sucks. I dunno who is worse in the acting department, Pitt or Keanu Reeves.

Oh yeah, if you plan on buying the book, make sure you get it used, because it's $14 just for the goddamn PAPERBACK AND IT'S ONLY 200 PAGES!!!!! AM I the only one who thinks that's too goddamn expensive?!
