Depends on what's making you waste it, in my opinion.
(assuming you're talking about YOURSELF wasting time, therefore not prepping for PO effects, yes?)
If it's a feeling of being overwhelmed by too much to do, then I recommend doing your prepping with "baby steps". Break it up. Do it incrementally.
If it's a feeling of being depressed, then get to the root of the depression.
If you're not sure WHICH thing to do then break up your tasks into categories "Food", "Water", "Shelter", "Energy", "Security". Work on one each day for 30 mins and then move on to the next for the next day.
