The Letusdrill.com post was deleted but here is my reply to their scapegoating of environmentalists.
Realize it takes a long time to develop an oil field. There may be some oil down there but it is the flow rate that counts. There was a gulf of Mexico project called thunder horse that was approved by the regulators but it has not really produced all that much oil and yet prices still continue to climb. The idea that drilling in these few small areas left is going to bring oil prices down is pure 100% fantasy. The truth is America's domestic production peaked in 1970 and not even the massive oil fields in Prudhoe bay and the North slope were able to reverse that trend. America has 500,000 oil wells already and these basins are the most thoroughly explored and depleted basins in the world. America's oil age is coming to end whether the American people accept it or not.
I will not letusliveindenial.com spread its lies here. We here acknowledge the reality of peak oil and the depletion of oil as a finite resource. We speak the truth that oil will decline and its price will continue to rise despite all efforts. The best thing America can do is prepare for the inevitable end of the America way of live as we know it. The age of the single occupant automobile is over, the age of single the family home in the burbs is over, the age of conspicuous consumption is over. You think $4 gas is bad wait until it $40 a gallon. We don't need any more polluted fisheries and ruined ecosystems just so you can keep driving for a few more weeks.
