Women I've talked with seem to discount it. Maybe they sunscribe to 'wishful thinking' that it all go away.

My wife especially likes to hide her head in the sand - she says it is depressing and will not even sit down to study any of the background material to develop a realization that there is a need for preparedness.

Acceptance of change is a signpost of which way a person is pointed with their ability to accept or deny truth. Does a person embrace truth and change for the better or rebel and hide from change?

Sometimes this resistance to change is ego based, other times it is fear based, but whatever the reason the choice remains the same. We can stay with the status-quo if we are happy with things as is. Or, we can work to change things in a direction we perceive to be a healthier and produce a better life for us.

The seeds of change all start with recognition that something is wrong, but without this recognition no change can come about. Desire must come from within, you cannot force someone to change, they must change themselves.

But, before a desire to change can be manifested, one must come to a "realization" that a change needs to occur in ones life. But for the sake of our inner peace we must accept our job is to just plant the seeds...but we cannot force them to sprout.

Along these same lines, most of the 'hardcore' doomers, the ones that think 98% of the population will die & survivors will be eating eachother in the next 5 years, have been single men. A lot of them almost look forward to it. I thought that was kind of weird.

I accept that major changes are on the way, but the fact is NO ONE knows how it will all play out & what the world will look like in 10+ years. To me, remaining positive is a must. What is the alternative? Driving off a cliff while there is still oil to do so because of all what what-ifs?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('allmeyer', 'H')i. I am a single woman in the northwest georgia area - looking for a gun-totin man!

I have relatives in Adairsville GA. My former inlaws live in Calhoun. My parents' families (yeah that's plural) come from the Beulahland area, Savannah-Statesboro-Charleston SC. I've lived in Waycross. I went to school for a while in Valdosta. I've played in a band on St. Simon's Island. My car was broken into and robbed once in Atlanta, by Blacks in a parking lot just behind the public library. I'm a friend of the Doles of Dalonegah. I've driven tractors, picked tobacco and nabbed escaped piglets on farms in Brantley County. I've ridden a bicycle from Waycross to Pembroke, via Bristol and Glenville. I've chased squirrels down the wooden walks at Laura Walker State Park. I had a breakdown once on I75 just north of Macon. I ate some Claxton fruitcake when I was a teenager. I've eaten Vidalia onions too. Not recently though.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('zensui', 'F')emale 32% [ 22 ]
Male 64% [ 44 ]
Disembodied web-bot. 2% [ 2 ]

current ratios:
male:female 2:1
female:web-bot 11:1

IMO because of how the thread is titled it's attracting women to it, hence the large female percentage in the poll.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cube', 'I') guess you wouldn't know what sarcasm was even if it's a 12 foot high flashing neon sign.......sheeeesh

Anyways 51% of the people on this planet are female so it's actually men who are the minority. In all my life with the exception of perhaps a men's locker room or bathroom it is very very very rare to go ANYWHERE on this planet that did not have women.

women are everywhere.
sorry gal I hate to disappoint you but you're NOT an exotic fruit contrary to what you may believe!
I think we need to get rid of this stereotype that 90% of the people on the interent are male.
That is not true.

You made a very pertinent point with the above but apparently you don't get it either. lol. guess its a womans perspective that a guy wouldn't get.

Anatomically I'm a man..... but sometimes I feel like a lesbian woman trapped in a smelly, hairy man's body.

Other times I'm neither man nor woman, I morph into an asexual, surfing banana riding a snot lama into the abyss without a care in the world....dig?

Female here - a married, mother of three, knitter of socks, maker of jam and grower of vegetables. I know quite a few women who fit my "profile" who are very PO aware - probably more so than most of the men I know.

I'd guess the Fantasy of PO is a male thing, somewhere between the Oedipus complex and Harold's urge for vengeance in The Stand.

I'd also guess the Reality of PO will bring many more women to PO.com to learn from and share with our resident Moms.

Sorry, but 6 inches is way too small for me.

BTW, I'm a 30 something female, 5'7", 117 lbs, and I have an MBA (Masters in Business). I also own a gun and keep up with world events, all while being a wife and mom. Yeah, I pretty much kick ass.
