I haven't see the 1hr42min extravaganza yet, loading it up now. This book is one of the Required Reading texts for Jay Hanson's Dieoff III Q&A. Having just re-read a bit of his site, I'm ready for more wrist-slashing fun with this updated and probably wonderful new bit of information on my fellow shaved monkeys.

Present company excepted, of course.

Many buckets of thanks for this. I'm a big Pinker fan. If you ever get a chance to go to one of his lectures, GO.

Grand irony: just when evolutionary psychology is finally unlocking the secrets that Freud, et al., couldn't touch--crash. bye-bye apes.

:-D

Just finished the vid. I've pretty much heard it all before. Genetic and cultural factors pretty much build personality. Yep.

Interesting, not directly PO-related, but interesting in a social commentary way. Watch it if you've got broadband and two hours to kill.

Tried to watch the video but it wouldn't play on my computer. So I read up on evolutionary psychology. Seems less like an attempt to explain what is human and more like an attempt to reduce what is human to some bio-computer metaphores. Sad.

nature vs nurture
what a old, and tiring debate
