Odd Way To Protest Oil Prices

Unread postby max_in_wa » Sat 17 May 2008, 14:12:01

Gas station covered in a blanket. It's sort of amusing to think of all the fossil fuels that went into growing/synthesis, processing, and coloring the fibers, let alone the diesel required to run the man lift (and transport it to the site) or the jet fuel involved in collecting all these panels from around the world.

I'm reminded of a bumper sticker I once saw on a car. It was a picture of an oil derrick surrounded by the international "no" symbol.

Reminds me of the time they tried to cure AIDS with a giant blanket in the 80s.

I don't get it. What's their point? Are they saying we should use less oil or take it from other countries with the threat of war?

One of the panels on the side says "Give me oil or give me death". My picture of ladies creating an artist quilt doesn't jive with them threatening war over oil in my mind.
