Discovery of LSD

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '.')..Hofmann called LSD "medicine for the soul" and was frustrated by the worldwide prohibition that has pushed it underground. "It was used very successfully for 10 years in psychoanalysis," he said, adding that the drug was hijacked by the youth movement of the 1960s and then unfairly demonized by the establishment that the movement opposed. He conceded that LSD can be dangerous in the wrong hands.[6]

In December 2007, Swiss medical authorities permitted a psychotherapist to perform psychotherapeutical experiments with patients who suffer from terminal stage cancer and other deadly diseases. Although not yet started, these experiments will represent the first study of the therapeutic effects of LSD on humans in 35 years, as other studies have focused on the drug's effects on consciousness and body. Hofmann supported the study, and continued to believe in the therapeutic benefits of LSD.[7]

Hofmann was due to speak at the World Psychedelic Forum[8] from March 21 to March 24, 2008 but was forced to pull out due to poor health. Hofmann died from a heart attack on April 29, 2008 in the village of Burg im Leimental, near Basel, Switzerland. He was 102...

I once read that Hoffman still tripped once or twice a year. That was probably 20 years ago. I wonder if that old dude was wiggin' at the century mark?

We so need to kickstart the soul into a "new paradigm" There I said it, used the paradigm word. Besides that, can you think of anything more ergonomic than being able to go on a trip without actually having to move, physically? It would be perfect for me.

"LSD wanted to tell me something. It gave me an inner joy, an open mindedness, a gratefulness, open eyes and an internal sensitivity for the miracles of creation." - Albert Hofmann, on his 100th birthday.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'U')h, to get back to the, uh, the warning that I've received you may take it with how many however many grains of salt you wish, that the brown acid that is circulating around us is not specifically too good. Uh, it's suggested that you do stay away from that, course it's your own trip, so be my guest, but, uh, please be advised that there is a warning on that one ok?

announcement at Woodstock

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') had a very bad time with acid. I did that classic thing of looking in the mirror by mistake and seeing the devil. But I took it several times, because you always think that next time you might have the wonderful time that everyone else is having.

Robbie Coltrane

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')f God dropped acid, would he see people?

Hey Al! So what's it like out there? I think those Sonoran desert cactus flower buds are better, but that's just my preference. A rainy day on the porch. Very fine, but peyote was scarce. Acid was everywhere. Nowhere near as good as nature's own psychedelic. There's something metallic and jarring about acid. That was all 30 years ago, but acid does not bring pleasant memories like peyote does.

I read this book a few years ago. It's a very well-written social history of the LSD phenomenon.
