PMS, men have been venerating (as well as denigrating) women since prehistoric times. Mary is nothing new.

I realized that I left out a lot of members, but what my faves all have is intelligence (sometimes expertise), humor, and kindness. I really enjoy the mix of unique perspectives here and the evident striving for understanding.

SPG for a couple of things, primarily her defense of sanity in the 9/11 thread and humility when evidence changes her mind.

Plenty of others, if you have ever made a practical suggestion, thank you whether I've decided to pursue it or not. Skeymoor and Pops come to mind, Prairie Mule for some encouragement, Ludi for my introduction to Permaculture (as counter-intuitive some of it is to my plowing and tree cutting mind) :) .Roccman for his shamelessness. Tyler and Mr. Bill for their expertise (though I'm more fond of the less sanguine Tyler of recent...

Well now I'm just repeating everyone else's list aren't I?

MG, it's my reading of history that Chivalry and Troubadour Ballads came about from the influence of the Virgin Mary. Just look at other societies and how they treat women. It's Western women who were given equality. The natural condition is poised on physical strength

That's probably one of the nicest things anyone's said to me. :)

I love PMS's avatar. Name, too. :) He wins the coolness award from me.

I've learned so much from Pops, PrairieMule, Wisconsin_cur, Ludi, and Shanny ... and everyone that posts in PFTF. You guys are inspiring.

I'm not good at stuff like this but I'll post more here. My memory sucks (long story) so if I didn't mention you right off it doesn't mean anything.

The avatar came from Bas. And I thank him for it. The forum name came from me, baby. Right from the start 4 years ago.

This is something that should be added to each thread, to remind everyone not to fight.

I'm thinking each of us make the rest of us think a tad more with each post.

That's the deal is it not?

I don't think that's particularly kind. You should know better than that. Use your three weeks off to contemplate it.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone for their contributions to this site. I'm really glad I stumbled upon peakoil.com when I did. I don't mind admitting I check in here a lot, whether it's to see what's new, or ask some questions to begin to learn a new skill. You folks have a wealth of information to share, and I love being challenged by others' opinions. A thoughtful post by one of you will push me gently back to square one again with my own thoughts on a topic.

Anyway, I don't mean to ramble on so. I just appreciate all that makes this site vibrant!

My ex-wife gave me a smile the other day. I'm a stupid fool. I liked that smile. She's old and fat. But I still like her smile. And Pops, you'll be interested to know her name is Susan.

It's very gracious of you to say so, PMS.

I'll tell you what I notice about myself these days. I'm about your age. I feel pretty good; in fact, I don't feel my age.

What I find is that as I get older, I'm much more inclined to look for the good in people than I used to be. Do you find yourself doing so as well? You strike me as a friendly, generous guy. I remember being young and not as trusting with people as I am now. Maybe I've just learned to use my head.

Or maybe life has worn you so far down with all of the evils, that you have no choice but to see and or try to find the good in people, because if you didn't, you don't think you would be able to go on.

My favorite people here are xxxladyforyou, hotnhornytonite and sexkitten69 ...

Oops, wrong website.

But seriously folks, I appreciate everybody for making me think harder about how things work in this crazy world of ours. I don't want to single anybody out except for JPL since nobody has mentioned him yet. I wonder what he's doing these days? The last I remember, he was moving from France back to Britain.

I even appreciate Jenab for the great gruel recipe, even though he wants to kill me, my girlfriend and my whole neighborhood.

No, jasonraymondson, it is a choice. I don't wear blinders, but I do look for the good and the silver lining in situations. It serves me well! That, and always finding things to look forward to, keeps me going.

If the gruel recipe had people in it, that might well be the ultimate PO.com quote.

No, nothing like that. I read a post where Jenab advocated that American whites invade foreign countries and take over their land. But his gruel recipe really sounded good.

I'm just bumping this thread up to make sure it doesn't die.

I think it's really important to have a place where people can show their appreciation for one another.

It builds community.
